In over 20 years as a therapist, I have worked with a wide range of clients and couples with many and varied issues. I work in a way that is strongly client, and emotionally focused. I have worked with clients experiencing depression, anxiety, substance issues, food disorders, grief, child-hood trauma, uncertainty around sexuality and gender, around identity and self confidence/esteem. I work well with clients who are looking to change their lives and who are open to exploring their issues; to challenge their thinking and to examine what isn't working for them and to take practical steps to shift beyond where they are now.

I'll help you find a way through whatever is bothering you by teaching you a different way of relating to your problems which will be a total relief. The changes you make will be lasting, life-enhancing and uniquely yours. You may have never had therapy, or be like many of the people I work with and have seen lots of other therapists before and nothing has really stuck. It could be a familiar old depression feeling creeping back in, you might be feeling conflicted about what to do about a situation, whatever it is, I can help. As a psychotherapist, I am unable to offer Medicare rebates.

We often come to therapy when we are anticipating or experiencing change; endings and new beginnings. I use a mixture of talk and Art therapy to work with people through changes; in identity, relationships, sexuality, health, career and family; if it's a change you're in, or a change you're wanting or needing. I work with the LGBTQIA+ community and our allies, friends and family. Together we can explore the parts of you that come with endings and change; grief and loss, anger, anxiety and depression. In doing this, we can become curious and generate movement towards new-beginnings and new chapters.

A solid therapeutic relationship can be a catalyst for meaningful change. I aim to provide you with safety through trust, deep empathy, validation, non-judgement & acceptance. There will be laughter, honesty and authenticity. I notice and highlight your values & strengths, which should be nurtured and empower you. I would like for you to not see yourself as a victim, or 'disabled', but as a tiger who has earned its stripes. I see complex clients, my niche is ADHD & its comorbidities eg ASC, disordered eating and chronic pain. Together we can work towards unmasking, silencing that inner critic that shames you and self-acceptance.

If you've been diagnosed with ADHD , or suspect you have it, you might be dealing with some struggles - problems at work or uni, conflict within your relationships, difficulty staying on track toward your goals. You might find it tough to keep track of time, remember things, see tasks through to completion, and juggle your responsibilities at work and at home. ADHD affects many facets of life and can feel overwhelming at times, especially if it's a new realisation for you.

I currently provide telehealth assessment for autism and ADHD in adults, with a neuro-affirming lens. I have a particular professional interest in diagnosis of autism in women, and my assessments take into consideration "camouflaging" or compensatory behaviours. I offer follow-up sessions to assist the individual to process the diagnosis (or absence of a diagnosis), and to establish relevant supports. I also practice as a therapist, but am not currently taking on new clients.

ADHD Counsellors
Some children and adults with ADHD find it difficult to concentrate on tasks at school or work and may daydream frequently. Children with ADHD may become disruptive, defiant, or have trouble getting along with parents, peers, or teachers. Children who struggle with hyperactivity and impulsivity, in particular, often have behavioral challenges that can be difficult for adults to manage. Adults, on the other hand, may be more likely to report feeling restless or fidgety; if they struggle with impulsivity, they may make rash decisions that adversely affect their life. For both children and adults, executive functioning (planning, emotional regulation, and decision-making) is often affected as well. Many children and adults display either hyperactive or inattentive symptoms of ADHD, but it’s also possible for both sets of symptoms to exist together, in what is typically called combined type ADHD.
