I combine CBT, ACT, Schema Therapy, and EMDR with cultural humility.
If you've spent therapy sessions explaining your culture instead of healing, you're in the right place. I'm Anushka, an Educational and Developmental Psychologist specializing in culturally responsive therapy for neurodivergent and multicultural communities. As a Fiji Indian woman navigating multiple worlds, I understand when your identity doesn't fit therapy textbooks. They want to break free from these cycles, feel more confident, and build healthier connections. Their goal is often to heal past wounds, gain resilience, and live with greater self-awareness and purpose.

When working clinically, I draw on CBT, Schema therapy, ACT, and EMDR.
We all fall on hard times. Darkness and malevolence are part of the human condition, and tragedy often strikes when we least expect it. The counterbalance is a deep human connection – a helping hand or guiding light. The first step to getting that help is often the hardest, and finding the right person is important. That help can be the difference, and it’s the reason why I became a psychologist.

Hi, I'm Jess! When seeing me, you can expect a warm, genuine clinician who makes you feel heard. Whether you are looking for support during a challenging time or wish to gain a deeper understanding of self-defeating coping strategies, I aim to provide you with a space to reflect and learn about yourself. As a therapist, I work from the belief that relationships are both the source of our deepest wounds and the space where true healing can take place. The therapeutic relationship itself can be a corrective emotional experience—one that fosters trust, empowerment, and the reweaving of secure attachment.

Do you frequently worry that your romantic partner won’t care about you as much as you care about them? Or that they won't love you for who you are or be there for you if you open up to them? If you're hoping to feel safe, loved, and accepted in your relationship or friendships, but you can never find people who make you feel this or you never give them the chance to do so, you likely have an attachment issue. I specialise in working with insecure attachment styles, working to help clients find security in a relationship for the first time and to develop a healthier, kinder view of themselves.

Cognitive Behavioural (CBT) Therapists
How does cognitive behavioural therapy work?
Cognitive behavioural therapy works by exploring how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences. CBT helps you identify distortions in your thinking. For example, you may tend to jump to the worst case scenario catastrophising or think in extremes (all-or-nothing thinking). A therapist can teach you how to push back against those thoughts to ultimately change your feelings and behavior for the better. They can also provide coping skills to better deal with stressors and challenges.

When do I know to seek treatment with cognitive behavioural therapy?
It’s reasonable to consider cognitive behavioural therapy if you struggle to manage difficult emotions or behaviors to such an extent that you are not getting the most out of life on a day-to-day basis. If you want a shorter term, concrete, skills-based approach, CBT is a great option. (By contrast, other types of therapy may devote more time to exploring your past and its effects.) The decision to seek CBT also depends on the condition you’re treating; CBT is an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and many other disorders.

How can I find a cognitive behavioural therapist for someone else?
To find a cognitive behavioural therapist for someone else, you may want to begin by discussing the person’s problem, researching cognitive behavioural therapy, and assessing whether the approach is the right fit. You could then reach out to a few cognitive behavioral therapists in this directory, explain the scenario, have a consultation with those available, and determine who could be a good match.

Why is CBT such a popular form of therapy?
CBT has become a popular form of therapy because it is effective and accessible. Robust research has demonstrated that CBT is an effective treatment for many mental health conditions. And CBT can be learned in relatively few sessions, which means that many people can engage in the process, afford it, and see results quickly. It involves learning concrete skills such as disputing unhelpful thoughts; these skills can also be taught and spread widely.
