You may look like you’re coping on the outside, while internally feeling stuck in patterns like overthinking, people-pleasing, perfectionism, or self-doubt. Or maybe you've spent years looking after everyone else, but struggle to extend the same compassion to yourself. Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, self-aware and high-functioning, but still find themselves caught in patterns they can’t seem to shift. Therapy can help you understand where these patterns come from—and begin creating meaningful, lasting change.

When you feel anxious, isolated, stuck or struggling, it’s hard to keep going. But you are a unique, complex human who deserves acceptance and care – from yourself and from the world. Let’s find that together. Especially if you are struggling with identity, purpose, self-worth or anxiety. Especially if you carry hurt or shame from feeling “different". I'm a gentle and compassionate listener and would love to share ways to cope with life now, find hope for what’s ahead, and plan purposeful steps forward. I can meet in-person (private consulting room or walk-and-talk), online or by phone, and at times that suit you.

If you’ve found yourself here, I’m guessing life has become harder than it needs to be. Perhaps you’ve spent years trying harder, only to wonder why it never seemed to get any easier. Maybe you’ve become incredibly good at coping, while privately feeling overwhelmed. Maybe you’ve spent your life feeling misunderstood, or perhaps someone you love is struggling and you don’t know how to reach them anymore. Whatever has brought you here, I’m glad you found your way.

If you are struggling with anxiety, trauma, shame, anger, overwhelm, addiction, dissociation or patterns you don’t fully understand but feel stuck in then I am able to help (See my website) I also offer parenting support.
Having worked with many different therapeutic modalities, I now primarily use Internal Family Systems (IFS) because it offers the most compassionate and effective way I know to understand and work with the full complexity of human experience and create deep and lasting healing. I integrate somatic, polyvagal, AEDP, attachment and mindfulness based practices.

Are you seeking Schema Therapy so you can explore the lifelong schemas that cause stress at home and work? Schemas such as unrelenting standards, self-sacrifice, emotional deprivation, abandonment and approval-seeking undermine our confidence, our mood and our wellbeing. The clients I see are aware that they have patterns that are not working for them at home, in their relationships and in their family life but don't know how to shift them. Schema Therapy improves the way we relate and 'talk' to ourselves, which creates a ripple effect on our self-esteem, our sense of purpose in life, our core values, and our key relationships.

Parenting Therapists
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
