If you're carrying something that feels too complicated, too shameful, or too long-standing to bring to the people in your life, you may be ready for a space where none of that has to be simplified.
I'm a clinical psychologist with over 15 years of experience, trained in South Africa and now practicing in Australia since 2020. That background has given me genuine exposure to a wide range of people, cultures, and presentations and a deep respect for how differently life's difficulties can show up depending on who you are and where you've come from.

Perhaps you have spent years caring for others and have lost sight of yourself. I work particularly with women and young people who want to understand what is happening beneath the surface, regain a sense of control and create lasting change.

Life can look fine on the outside while something still feels missing underneath. You may feel disconnected from yourself or your relationship, unsure of what you need, exhausted by the same conflicts, or longing to feel more deeply seen, heard and understood. Sometimes you know something isn't working, but can't quite put your finger on what. You may feel empty, disconnected or exhausted, overwhelmed yet unable to slow down, or numb and shut down while struggling to sleep, focus or stay present. Sometimes you know something feels wrong, but can't quite explain what is missing.

I practice Lacanian Psychoanalysis. Psychoanalysis is a talking work, or therapy, which aims to make an absolute difference to suffering. Lacan's psychoanalysis is based in the idea that the unconscious is structured like language. What you say reveals the unconscious processes that underlie any issues that are problematic for you, or recur. Psychoanalysis is the safe space where you can come to talk freely, without censorship and your analyst listens. There is no "correct" way to speak; the work of psychoanalysis is to find your own unique voice, especially of your unconscious.

Find that talking about your struggles in therapy hasn’t led to the change you were hoping for—or that symptoms have persisted despite previous treatment and immense effort? You are not alone. I use evidence-based approaches that go beyond talking to address symptoms at their root, prioritising a strong therapeutic relationship and safety throughout the process. I work with people aged 18+ experiencing PTSD and complex-PTSD, chronic pain, anxiety, depression, panic, relationship difficulties and dissociation.

How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.
How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realised.
How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
