Are you frustrated about not feeling heard or understood by your partner? Do you feel like you are constantly arguing and not able to see the good in each other? Do you feel you are roommates instead of lovers? Do you feel really lonely? Do you compare your relationship to other happier couples and feel you fall short? Many couples want a safe space to talk through their issues with an experienced professional, and a clear plan for how to navigate back to closeness, warmth and understanding. I also see couples for pre-marital counselling, and specific problems like sexual difficulties, unfaithfulness, money, in-laws and parenting.

Undertaking therapy is a very personal and meaningful journey—whether you're looking to heal trauma, face relationship struggles, or simply wanting to understand yourself more deeply. The growth that can come from this inner work often not only nurtures your own wellbeing but positively impacts those around you. It’s a genuine honour to walk alongside my clients as they navigate challenges, build more self understanding and unlock deeper inner resilience. My work aims to support gentle reconnection—with self and others—especially where early attachment experiences have shaped current ways of relating.

Therapy for eating disorders, childhood trauma, and relationships. Sometimes we find ourselves repeating the same emotional patterns — in relationships, work, or the way we treat ourselves. You might understand why you do it, yet still feel unable to change. My work focuses on helping people slow down, make sense of what’s happening underneath, and begin to respond differently. Therapy becomes a place to feel understood, to build self-compassion, and to find new ways of relating that feel steadier and more connected.

I provide a safe, collaborative space to explore these challenges, understand underlying patterns, and develop strategies that fit your life and values. As a mother of three, I understand the many shifts that come with parenthood and family life — the joys, the pressures, and the unexpected challenges.

I am a registered psychologist who works with adolescents (16 and up) and adults. I pride myself on making all clients feel welcome and comfortable in the therapeutic space. I like to take the time to deeply understand each individual client in order to cater my therapeutic approach to the individual. I see the client as the expert in the room and tap into their knowledge of themselves and their presenting issues to collaboratively work through and understand the issue together. I endeavour to help clients develop long lasting strategies and insight into themselves to be able to use and apply outside of the therapeutic space.

Clients come to me because they want help. They may have relationship issues, ongoing impact of early childhood trauma, or more recent traumatic events. I see clients who feel the despair and hopelessness of life, feel inauthentic through masking, their relationships are strained and unfulfilling, or they struggle to manage strong emotions. My clients want to change their lives. I listen and hold onto hope as my clients discover their innate drive towards wholeness and find capacity to meet challenges as they discover their own unique voice.

Female Counsellors

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
