I have a special interest in working with young people and adults on issues such as, Mood and anxiety disorders, Stressful life situations and transitions, Trauma (PTSD and Complex Trauma), Relationship difficulties, Grief and loss, and Perinatal mental health.
With a Master's in Counselling Psychology, my therapeutic approach is grounded in evidence-based methodologies such as CBT, ACT, EMDR, and Schema Therapy. Yet, beyond the technical aspects, what truly defines my practice is a deep-seated respect and appreciation for my clients. I feel immensely honoured to be invited into their stories, if only for a brief chapter. My role, as I see it, is to serve as a compassionate guide, helping them navigate, reflect, and find their own paths to healing and self-discovery. Committed to inclusivity, I welcome all backgrounds, creating a space of understanding and growth.

I work with individuals, teens (12+), and new parents, and I have experience working with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, stress, school refusal, big life transitions, family violence, and neurodivergence.
I use gestalt therapy and bring in other ways of working when they're useful for you. Together, we'll build a greater sense of self-awareness and acceptance, as that's really where change starts. We'll explore what you're experiencing, build support, and notice the patterns underneath it all, so you end up with more choice in how you respond to life.

As a therapist who has undergone a significant amount of personal therapeutic work , I understand the need for warmth, acceptance and a therapists strong capacity to sit with discomfort. This is the foundation of a therapeutic relationship where people can show up with aspects of themselves that are problematic and unhelpful without judgement or pressure to be anything other than themselves. I can relate to very human, uncomfortable and undesirable behaviors, feelings and beliefs about ourselves. Through consistent support, compassion and curiosity, awareness and choice emerge, and change becomes possible.

I see therapy as a space where people can arrive exactly as they are—messy, uncertain, overwhelmed, hopeful, grieving or growing—and feel genuinely met within that experience.
I have a particular focus on Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples. Together, we slow down the patterns that leave you feeling hurt, disconnected or alone, making sense of the emotions and longings beneath them. As these become safer to share, new moments of connection can emerge, helping you reach for and respond to one another in new ways.

I have a passion for working with couples, people looking to overcome trauma, depression, anxiety, anger and grief.
Working together, our primary goal will be to understand and relieve distressing symptoms, to restore emotional balance, clarity of thought, and to develop more stable and connected relationships. While we cannot erase painful, or traumatic experiences from the past, we can work towards constructive, healthy ways of viewing and interacting with the world.

I’m Rob, a gay psychotherapist and counsellor. I work particularly with GBTQ+ men around relationships, identity, anxiety, self-worth and self-understanding. My approach is non-pathologising, which means I don’t see you as a problem that needs fixing or assume that there is something wrong with you. Instead, I’m interested in understanding what makes sense about the way you’ve come to be where you are, including the experiences and relationships that have shaped you.

Grief Therapists
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
