As a therapist, I understand the need for warmth and acceptance. This is the foundation of a therapeutic relationship where people can show up with aspects of themselves that are problematic and unhelpful without judgement. I can relate to very human uncomfortable and undesirable behaviors, feelings and beliefs about ourselves. Through consistent support, compassion and curiosity, positive change becomes possible.

First sessions can involve - getting to know each other and what approach to therapy works for you, exploring how to use the room/space, and whether you would like to explore any art or movement.
I am a creative arts psychotherapist and social worker with 10+ years experience in mental health and community-based settings. My passion lies in supporting people who are looking to feel more pleasure, wholeness and connection within themselves and in relationships. I utilise a range of theories and approaches, and work in collaboration with you to find what best fits your needs. I am particularly interested in creative, somatic and movement-based therapies to foster safety, curiosity, playfulness, and self expression. My practice is trauma sensitive, sex work inclusive, and LGBTQIA+ affirming. All relationship structures welcome.

Many of the people who come to me have reached a point where they’re ready for something to shift. They’re tired of repeating the same patterns, feeling disconnected, or sensing that life could be different but not knowing where to begin. Some are navigating depression, anxiety, or grief; others are carrying the impact of trauma, family violence, or crime. Many are simply starting their personal development journey and feel unsure where or how to start. What they all share is a readiness to understand themselves more deeply and take steps toward meaningful change.

Trauma is something that affects many people and for some it is debilitating: insomnia, triggers, social anxiety, loss of confidence, relationship issues, life meaning, self-worth, etc. You've lived with it for so long, but just imagine the possibility of sharing the burden, gaining understanding, and feeling freedom as you're released from it. I am here to understand you, to listen respectfully, and to assist in finding what's right for you.

There is no expectation to talk or make art in any particular way
I work with people who find that words alone aren’t always enough — especially when experiences are held in the body as images, impulses, or sensations rather than clear narratives. I work in a relational, body-based way, integrating creative and somatic processes to support exploration, awareness, and meaning-making. I work with both children and adults, offering a collaborative and flexible approach that supports more-than-verbal ways of communicating, understanding, and expressing experience. I am drawn to creative expression and somatic awareness as ways to reclaim the agency of our bodies and narratives.

You may feel alienated from this chaotic, mechanical world. What feels alien is not you, but the culture that keeps asking you to perform: to fit your inner life into acceptable forms. That demand may have cost you more than you can name. My work begins from the assumption that the way you perceive reflects a distinct orientation toward the world. When this is deeply understood, something slowly gathers: an inward sense of home, and a life able to hold your sharper colours, unusual attentions, and rich associative movements of thought.

We practice the art of belonging to our vibrant self and world.
Love and Grief. Loneliness. School Can’t. Power Struggles. Doubt. Disenchantment. Impoverishment. Cultures. Identities. Mind-Body Connection. Spiritual Emergence. These are my jams. I work with all ages and faces in beautiful spaces. I want you to get a lot out of therapy, not just a bandaid or another set of textbook rules/strategies to get by, but a way of life that is deeply congruent and satisfying to who you truly are, as well as your own portable home of what I call the 7 Friends of Universal Human Needs: Safety, Support, Truth, Freedom/Creative Expression, Value and Worth, Beauty, and Vibrant Connection to All of Life.

I draw on evidence-based approaches such as ACT, CBT, EFT, and strengths-based therapy, along with creative and somatic techniques like play, art, and mindfulness.
As a practising Counsellor, my ideal client may be a young person needing support with emotional or behavioural challenges, a teen navigating identity and school pressures, or an adult feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, parenting, or cultural expectations. They seek clarity, emotional safety, and practical tools to manage life’s challenges. Often, they want to feel understood, connected, and more in control. I offer a calm, strengths-based space to explore, process, and grow, honouring each client’s unique story, background, and goals.

Art Therapy
How does art therapy work?
The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.

Does art therapy help with trauma?
Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.

How long does art therapy last?
The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.

What are the limitations of art therapy?
Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioural therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
