If you’re a professional struggling with anxiety, perfectionism, relationship difficulties, or self-doubt, you may feel like you should have it all together. Outwardly, you appear capable and successful, but internally, stress and overthinking make it difficult to enjoy your work, relationships, or even your downtime. You might find yourself avoiding difficult conversations, procrastinating on important tasks, or overworking to keep anxiety at bay. Despite your efforts, you may feel stuck, wondering why stress and self-doubt persist.

I am an AHPRA registered psychologist specialising in parts-based and trauma-informed therapies. I completed my post-graduate clinical and research training at The University of Melbourne.
I offer individual and relationship therapy for adults (18+).
My approach is grounded in the belief that meaningful change begins in the presence of safety. From that foundation, and with the guidance of a compassionate, non-judgmental therapist, we can begin to turn toward ourselves, including the parts of us we have learned to hide, to silence, and the parts that have long been working, in their own way, to keep us safe.

I work with warmth and curiosity to help develop a deeper understanding of your concern and make sense of why particular patterns might be causing distress. I work from an understanding that many of life's concerns stem from our past experiences in relationships and the structural difficulties that are present in our society. I endeavor to understand peoples experience and distress through the context in which they live. I believe that the more we can understand the fixed patterns we find ourselves stuck in, the greater chance we have of learning to live in more meaningful ways. I offer supervision, individual and couples therapy.

I tailor therapy to individual needs around anxiety, grief, relationships, life transitions, workplace difficulties, and cultural or spiritual concerns.
I’m a psychotherapist who works with people who find that the past or ongoing stress continues to affect their lives, relationships, wellbeing, or ability to relax and be fully in life. We can develop ways of coping and protecting ourselves that were once important, but may later leave us feeling stuck, disconnected or anxious.
I work with sensitivity and compassion, bringing gentle awareness to the patterns underlying present difficulties, allowing change to emerge naturally. Therapy at your pace can support greater inner security, vitality, connection and freedom in how you relate to yourself and others.

Living is a process. When things are difficult, when we suffer in ways that time alone doesn't fix, it's often because something is stuck in the process of our experiencing. Maybe you have a sense that something is weighing on you, that patterns are repeating, that you don't feel fully present in your own life. I believe we make sense of our experiences through language, and that patterns repeat and process stalls when we haven't found the right words to articulate a feeling that is desperate for expression. If we can't express ourselves truly and precisely, we are destined to keep journeying down the same unsatisfying path.

Life can look perfectly fine on the outside, while you're stuck in patterns you don't quite understand. I work with adults who grew up feeling unseen, criticised or controlled. I understand the unspoken rules many men grow up with about their emotions, often finding themselves shutting down, feeling numb or distant. We often overlook how these are simply natural adaptive responses formed in early childhood. I work with individuals feeling disconnected in their relationships, where one partner is reluctant to try while the other suffers in silence, through to couples caught in recurrent conflict and at their last resort.

I usually see adolescents and adults experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, burnout, relationship concerns, eating disorders & the transition to motherhood.
My approach is relational and psychodynamic — we’ll spend time understanding the patterns underneath what’s going on, not just managing symptoms. I also draw on EMDR, Schema Therapy, CBT, and DBT depending on what fits. I have a particular interest in trauma and perinatal mental health.

Grief Therapists
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
