I’m Luke, director of Explore Psychology and registered psychologist. My goal is to provide 16+ year old clients with a supportive, non-judgmental and welcoming space in which we can work together. I am particularly interested in working with late teens and adults, providing support for alcohol- and other drug-related problems, relationship issues, men’s health, depression, anxiety and trauma. My priority as a Psychologist is to provide you with an empathetic and reflective space. A space where you feel safe to fully be yourself. A space where you will feel truly seen, heard and understood. I am passionate about reducing stigma associated with mental health. Whether you’re a fourth-generation farmer or a first-time mum, there is no shame in seeking support- giving your emotions space to exist without judgement is so important. Relationship troubles? Wondering if anything or anyone could help? You may be feeling alone, and doubtful - full of worry, guilt or shame at being here. But hearing more anger or blame as you withdraw emotionally only prolongs the problem & often makes things worse. It's lonely being in a relationship where the other person no longer feels 'present'. Ignoring the problems doesn't work, rather it pushes them underground where they fester. At this point you may be feeling raw, stressed, isolated, fearful or disillusioned. Tears & frustration one minute, anger the next. If rekindling love and connection is important to you, let's talk.
Dave is an experienced social worker and mental health clinician. He has experience with supporting children, youth, adults and older adults with a range of issues, including personality issues such as trauma-related difficulties, post-traumatic stress (PTSD), emotional regulation challenges, ADHD, anxiety and depression. He is passionate about assisting clients with longstanding interpersonal and personality difficulties, relationship issues, the management of symptoms from trauma and helping clients to develop strategies to match their concerns.
I love working with people who are ready to dive deep. I find the best work happens when people are ready to reflect and take some risks, opening themselves to new experiences and possibilities. People are ready to try new approaches to old problems in a non clinical environment. They want to feel freer to be themselves, gain clarity and have closer more satisfying relationships with loved ones. Often I work with students of psychology/counselling/play therapy/art therapy who are interested in doing their own wok before becoming therapists. I also work a lot with couples and individuals in life transitions, especially parenthood.
I bring passion and enthusiasm to my work and enjoy working with adolescents and adults presenting with a diverse range of issues, such as depression, anxiety, substance use, self-harm, mood disorders, trauma, self-esteem, relationship issues, life transitions and grief and loss. I approach the therapeutic process from a stance of resolving long-term behavioural, cognitive and relational patterns, that negatively present functioning and wellbeing. Clients will be interested in and committed to identifying and exploring underlying causes of current distress.
