Let’s be honest. Walking into therapy can feel intimidating. The old-school image of psychology is still very “serious face, intimidating suit, big words you didn’t ask for.” That’s not what happens here. I’m a psychologist who genuinely believes therapy shouldn’t feel like you’re being analysed under fluorescent lighting. It should feel collaborative, clear & human. You deserve support that makes sense in real life. No "hacks". My approach is simple. I get to know you properly. We figure out what’s getting in your way. And we build tools that actually work in your day-to-day life. No unnecessary jargon.

You might be feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or at a point of change. At times, there can be a sense that something isn’t quite working, even if it’s difficult to put into words. Many of the people I work with are seeking not just relief from symptoms, but a deeper understanding of themselves and their experience. I work with adults and adolescents, supporting concerns such as anxiety, life transitions, trauma, identity, and relationships. My approach is collaborative and relational, offering a space to reflect, explore, and make sense of what is happening beneath the surface.

Being overwhelmed, uncertain or in pain, is your unconscious saying it's time for a change. Frequently, though, working out just how to do that, can also be overwhelming in itself, and might only be possible with an ally from outside your normal environment .....So ... What I offer is the result of many years of experiences, not necessarily welcome at the time, but they do turn out to be really worthwhile when working with people in distress, or people simply seeking change, or wanting a new (outlook on) life. My 'speciality' would be; people who are new to therapy, and those not so new, looking for something different.

Specialising in high risk adolescents and adults, I offer contemporary psychoanalysis and EMDR resulting in powerful therapeutic benefits. Integrating several types of therapy (CBT, solution focused, problem solving), psychoanalysis informs my work in terms of the way I conceptualise the client's current problems and EMDR (as needed) results in a faster way of processing trauma. Combining these two therapies provides effective in-depth therapy with relatively brief therapy. If you have been suffering with unresolved psychological trauma, I can help you to overcome the problems that are keeping you from maximising your potential.

After discovering your partner’s infidelity, you may experience nightmares, difficulty concentrating, disrupted sleep or appetite, and intense feelings of sadness, fear, or anger. You might also feel a relentless need to uncover more details of the betrayal. This is betrayal trauma - caused by secrecy, lies and manipulation from someone who was supposed to care for you. You may feel alone, overwhelmed, and unsure where to turn or who to trust.

Divorce Therapists
How does therapy for people affected by a divorce work?
Individuals may feel a number of emotions following a divorce, such as shock, guilt, grief, anger, and fear. Therapists offer a non-judgmental space for individuals to talk about what they’ve experienced and process their emotions. Therapists will help clients develop coping strategies. They can also help a client rebuild their sense of self and self-worth and talk about what a happier future might look like.

What’s the most common type of therapy following a divorce?
There are several types of therapy that may be useful for divorce, including cognitive behavioural, acceptance and commitment, solution-focused brief, and mindfulness-based therapies. Many therapy types are talk-therapy based, which is typically the most popular option for individuals dealing with divorce. Cognitive behavioural therapy is a widely-used talk therapy, however, there’s no specific therapy type that’s designed to help people with divorce, and different types will work depending on the person.

When should an individual seek help due to a divorce?
When the feelings of a divorced individual, or an individual going through the process of divorce, begin to disrupt healthy daily functioning, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not performing at work due to problems with anxiety or motivation, if they’re no longer seeing friends due to feelings of shame, or if they’re not properly taking care of themselves as a result of depression, speaking to a professional could help.

How do you encourage someone to go to therapy due to a divorce?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the individual while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Sharing how the individual appears to be suffering, and what effects it has on them or on their children, should be done with compassion and empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
