Hi, I'm Freya. I've been counselling for over 25 years, and a year ago started incorporating my animals (horses, dogs, cats) into my therapeutic practice. I work with all ages, and the people I work with are as unique as the issues they want to address. My clients are individuals, couples, and children. I have lived experience of neurodiversity (ASD, ADHD , Dyslexia, HSP) and consequently work with a lot of people who are neurodiverse themselves. My work focusses on understanding why we are the way we are, combined with techniques that foster change and growth, with the end goal of increased well being and resilience.

My ideal client is one who is looking to make sense of their experiences and how they function or operate within their world; one who is open to learning about themselves, to make changes and to improve skills to better relationships with themselves and those around them. Their issues may be varied and include anxiety, attachment issues, bullying, communication, divorce, emotional regulation, family functioning, fractured relationships, grief, infidelity and stress, among other issues that may present. Assisting clients to set out a treatment plan and work together to achieve their goals are important aspects of the journey.

ADHD Counsellors
Some children and adults with ADHD find it difficult to concentrate on tasks at school or work and may daydream frequently. Children with ADHD may become disruptive, defiant, or have trouble getting along with parents, peers, or teachers. Children who struggle with hyperactivity and impulsivity, in particular, often have behavioral challenges that can be difficult for adults to manage. Adults, on the other hand, may be more likely to report feeling restless or fidgety; if they struggle with impulsivity, they may make rash decisions that adversely affect their life. For both children and adults, executive functioning (planning, emotional regulation, and decision-making) is often affected as well. Many children and adults display either hyperactive or inattentive symptoms of ADHD, but it’s also possible for both sets of symptoms to exist together, in what is typically called combined type ADHD.

If you're looking for a Ballarat Central ADHD counsellor, these professionals provide ADHD therapy and counselling in Ballarat Central.
