Many clients experience increased clarity, calmer responses and more confidence in themselves and their parenting.
You look like you’re coping, but inside you feel overwhelmed, irritable and stretched too thin. You may be raising children far from family support, navigating cultural expectations, relationship strain, or the intensity of strong-willed kids. The constant mental load, the guilt of never doing enough, or the tension that builds after long, exhausting days. You want to feel calmer, less guilty, more connected to yourself and your family, and to stop feeling like you’re failing at your relationship or as a mother.

Many of the men we work with aren’t in crisis. They’re capable, driven and doing well on paper. But something isn’t working. You might be shutting down in conflict, carrying quiet anger, feeling disconnected from your partner, or unsure who you are outside of work and responsibility. You want to show up better in your relationships, feel more steady in yourself, and stop repeating patterns you know aren’t working. You may have tried pushing through on your own. Now you’re ready for structured support that actually translates into real conversations, real decisions and real change.

I work differently from traditional talk therapy. Many women understand their story but still feel anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck. Insight alone isn’t always enough; the nervous system needs to feel safe before change can happen. I’m a trauma-informed counsellor supporting women with anxiety, emotional overwhelm, life transitions, and psychosocial disability, including NDIS participants. My approach is calm, holistic, intuitive, and body-aware, focusing on emotional regulation and self-trust. With consent, I may incorporate gentle Reiki or intuitive guidance. Sessions available online Australia-wide and in person in Parkdale, Melb

Parenting Therapists
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
