I have been working as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist in Private Practice since 2011. My aim is to create spaces of trust for clients to explore the intricacy of their own lives, to identify the fullness and complexity of their experience, to come to terms with themselves, and to release behaviour which no longer serves them. My work is Humanistic, Person Centred and Emotion Focused, and I use the integrative approaches of my training as entry points for us to language, feel, and honour, all that we carry deeply within us.

You might feel anxious, stuck or uncertain about what comes next. Maybe you’re processing grief, identity changes or relationship stress, or you’ve just lost touch with your sense of direction. You value honesty, warmth and real conversation over quick fixes. You want to feel more grounded, confident and connected to who you truly are. You’re not looking to be 'fixed,' but to understand yourself better and move through life with clarity and self-trust.

You already know what you should do. Eat better, move more, manage stress. But knowledge isn't the problem. The gap between knowing and doing reveals something deeper: unaddressed anxiety, trauma, hormonal imbalances, or chronic inflammation your body's been telling you about for years. I'm Dr. Zambrano (MBBS, Masters Counselling & Psychotherapy), integrating medical-lifestyle science, and psychotherapy. I don't just hand you a diet plan. We uncover why change hasn't stuck, then build sustainable transformation through evidence-based medicine, and therapeutic support for the emotional roots of physical illness.

Understanding our problems and achieving change in our lives is found in considering our whole life journey. Our past provides a foundation for learning, our present provides us with the opportunity for agency and choice and our future can provide a meaningfulness. From this we can grow, strive, be more resilient and better adapt to what ever life throws at us. Psychotherapy works best when we recognise we have strengths not just weaknesses, our symptoms are part of us not all of us, change is about both loss and gain and that insight and self-knowledge is the basis for real enduring change.

I have had a deep interest in human psychology and behaviour my whole life. I have wanted to make sense of life and help others do the same. I am formally trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, but am perhaps most passionate about ACT. I believe that changing not only our thoughts but also our relationship to our thoughts/minds is a key skiIl all people should learn to not only have more peace in themselves, but to create a better world.

You may feel stretched thin, notice tension in your chest, or lie awake replaying the day. Private struggles can build quietly and shape how you move. With the right support, things ease. Many people say they breathe more freely once we begin. We slow things down, understand patterns, and build steadier ways to meet stress, emotion, intimacy and change. I specialise in deeper emotional blocks that shape anxiety and sexual confidence, using hypnotherapy in a calm, grounded way. I bring twenty years in trauma, anxiety, sex therapy and transitions. If it feels right, you can reach out and we can take the next step together.

Therapy for multicultural Australians navigating life between cultures You might feel like you're always switching between worlds — at home, at work, and within yourself. Maybe you’re carrying cultural expectations you didn’t choose. You might feel stuck in cycles of self-doubt, disconnected in relationships, or just emotionally exhausted trying to hold everything together. If this resonates, you're in the right place. I work with people from multicultural backgrounds, especially second or third-generation Australians and children of migrants, who want to feel more in control, more grounded, and more at ease in themselves.

I place an emphasis on a respectful relationship where thoughts and feelings are treated with sensitivity and honesty. I provide a supportive and relaxed environment, and believe that no thought or feeling deserves judgment in therapy. I enjoy helping people with anxiety, phobias, OCD, depression, trauma, problems with assertiveness, anger, behavioural problems, and relationship issues. I hope to offer people an opportunity to understand what is happening inside themselves that is causing their suffering, to build skills to regulate anxiety, to gain stability in relationships, and to heal and unlock potential.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?
There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?
Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?
Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?
Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
