I aim to offer a space where men can slow down and begin to make sense of experiences that feel stuck, challenging, or difficult to hold alone. You may find yourself here in the midst of transition, loss, relational difficulty, or uncertainty - or simply when familiar ways of living or coping no longer feel sustainable, and life begins to feel less steady than before. In this work, we turn toward what is present with care and curiosity - the patterns, the parts, the places in you that formed long ago in response to life, relationships, and the broader environments you have moved through.

Talk therapy is combined with somatic and mindfulness practices, experiential techniques and imagery work to help access hidden facets of the psyche, make meaning of lived experiences, and move towards a richer and more fulfilling life.
Life can be hard, uncertain and confusing, and yet there is an expectation that we inherently know how to live and relate well. This is a fallacy. The realms of the personal are complex, made even more complex when two or more lives come together in relationship. Guidance, mentorship, support and education are necessary elements to navigating the vicissitudes of life and relationship. I therefore guide my clients (individuals, couples and other relationships) through a unique exploratory process of understanding, discovery and growth.

I have been working as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist in Private Practice since 2011. My aim is to create spaces of trust for clients to explore the intricacy of their own lives, to identify the fullness and complexity of their experience, to come to terms with themselves, and to release behaviour which no longer serves them. My work is Humanistic, Person Centred and Emotion Focused, and I use the integrative approaches of my training as entry points for us to language, feel, and honour, all that we carry deeply within us.

As a psychotherapist I don’t push for change, but work with you to gain deeper understanding of yourself and your experience. I have found that in time, from this place of deep self-understanding and acceptance, change takes place naturally and spontaneously.

I am influenced by narrative and somatic approaches to therapy, harm minimisation, and trauma-informed practice.
One of the miraculous things about being queer or trans is that our experiences do not fit in any box. Yet at times, we find ourselves isolated and uncertain, navigating our lives without a blueprint. Whether you are courageously working to heal troubled relationships with eating and food (including intersections with gender dysphoria or neurodivergence), navigating IVF, pregnancy or miscarriage as a queer person, working out non-normative relationship structures and transitions, or seeking to connect wiith what helps you to stay alive in this world, counselling with me is a safe and trusting space to reflect, heal and grow.

Somatic Therapists
How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
