Life can be hard, uncertain and confusing, and yet there is an expectation that we inherently know how to live and relate well. This is a fallacy. The realms of the personal are complex, made even more complex when two or more lives come together in relationship. Guidance, mentorship, support and education are necessary elements to navigating the vicissitudes of life and relationship. I therefore guide my clients (individuals, couples and other relationships) through a unique exploratory process of understanding, discovery and growth.

Hi, I'm Jess! When seeing me, you can expect a warm, genuine clinician who makes you feel heard. Whether you are looking for support during a challenging time or wish to gain a deeper understanding of self-defeating coping strategies, I aim to provide you with a space to reflect and learn about yourself. As a therapist, I work from the belief that relationships are both the source of our deepest wounds and the space where true healing can take place. The therapeutic relationship itself can be a corrective emotional experience—one that fosters trust, empowerment, and the reweaving of secure attachment.

Every person is unique, and we each experience life’s challenges in our own way. While similar situations may touch our lives, our responses to them are deeply personal and complex. I believe that therapy should reflect this individuality—there is no one-size-fits-all solution. My approach is tailored to meet you where you are, recognizing that what works for one person may not work for another, even if they’ve faced the same circumstances. Together, we’ll explore your needs, strengths, and goals to find the path that feels right for you.

After discovering your partner’s infidelity, you may experience nightmares, difficulty concentrating, disrupted sleep or appetite, and intense feelings of sadness, fear, or anger. You might also feel a relentless need to uncover more details of the betrayal. This is betrayal trauma - caused by secrecy, lies and manipulation from someone who was supposed to care for you. You may feel alone, overwhelmed, and unsure where to turn or who to trust.

Divorce Therapists
How does therapy for people affected by a divorce work?
Individuals may feel a number of emotions following a divorce, such as shock, guilt, grief, anger, and fear. Therapists offer a non-judgmental space for individuals to talk about what they’ve experienced and process their emotions. Therapists will help clients develop coping strategies. They can also help a client rebuild their sense of self and self-worth and talk about what a happier future might look like.

What’s the most common type of therapy following a divorce?
There are several types of therapy that may be useful for divorce, including cognitive behavioural, acceptance and commitment, solution-focused brief, and mindfulness-based therapies. Many therapy types are talk-therapy based, which is typically the most popular option for individuals dealing with divorce. Cognitive behavioural therapy is a widely-used talk therapy, however, there’s no specific therapy type that’s designed to help people with divorce, and different types will work depending on the person.

When should an individual seek help due to a divorce?
When the feelings of a divorced individual, or an individual going through the process of divorce, begin to disrupt healthy daily functioning, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not performing at work due to problems with anxiety or motivation, if they’re no longer seeing friends due to feelings of shame, or if they’re not properly taking care of themselves as a result of depression, speaking to a professional could help.

How do you encourage someone to go to therapy due to a divorce?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the individual while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Sharing how the individual appears to be suffering, and what effects it has on them or on their children, should be done with compassion and empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
