My clients range in age from 5 and their issues, needs and goals vary markedly. I work with the person in front of me and try to see the world through their eyes. Clients want someone who is going to listen to them and not be judged. I use a range of strategies in sessions that will build a toolbox for the client in the future. Many of my clients have applied things they have learned to other situations. The therapeutic relationship needs to be a careful balance of comfort, choice and challenge, built up over a time frame guided by the readiness of the client.
I have worked as an educator for over 35 years and have a significant amount of experience in education and counselling as a result. I have worked with teachers, parents, children and many other stakeholders. This has involved working with people dealing with anxiety, depression, anger, burnout, addictions and life transitions, just to name a few.
I gently challenge different thinking and perspectives so that emotions are more manageable, and behaviours and outcomes can change for the better. Often a client does not have the headspace to do this for themselves. I would love the opportunity to work with you and to help you to become grounded, grow stronger and flourish.
