About

Since my first client in 1998 I have known that trauma & distress are visceral in nature. One can’t think oneself out of distress, but needs to gently feel the feelings – in the safety of therapy – to express them in a physical, somatic way through talking, breath, movement, acupressure, tapping, mindfulness, & felt-sense techniques. By bringing your issues, thoughts & feelings into the session we work together to untangle & understand & describe the patterns – the psychodynamics – that have sat underneath the formation of these issues. Over time, with increased self understanding & awareness comes release, relief & self-acceptance.
I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist & counsellor for adolescent & adult women aged from 14 years. My therapy studio is in Watson in North Canberra, in the ACT. I see women only & offer face-to-face short-term counselling, psychotherapy (longer term with deeper work & analysis), + EFT Tapping, mindfulness, & run occasional groups for teens and adult women.
Psychodynamic therapy works within a relational framework: client & therapist working together. By building a safe place to work through issues, I help you describe, understand, & deal with your feelings & reactions. I do this through a frame of my positive regard, my respect for you, & through a kind of gentle re-examining & re-working of past choices.
