Hi there! My name is Dan Hales. I am highly passionate about working with young people, men, neurodivergent folks & my own queer community, including trans, gender diverse & HIV positive community members. As well as all people from 'minority' groups or diverse cultural backgrounds. As members of marginalised populations, we often share that sense of shame (as well as pride!) that comes with not living up to the dominant culture's expectations of 'normal'. Queerphobia, racism, ableism, sexism, toxic masculinity, minority stress, micro-aggressions, internalised shame & identity concerns are often daily experiences for many of us.
I aim to help clients unpack their concerns (including trauma), validate their experience, explore 'solutions' & work to develop skills and strategies to manage these concerns. I am highly experienced in working with young people from 16 years old and up, the LGBTIQA+ community, HIV positive folk, neurodivergent individuals and migrants / refugees.
I'm a keen movement, yoga & mindfulness practitioner (and teacher) of 21 years. I’m passionate about creative group work & I have a strong interest in dance, drama & expressive arts-based therapies. In my spare time I’m a writer & performer who loves the theatre. I adore anything that involves travel, adventure, nature & hiking.
