Seeking counselling can feel overwhelming. Years of working with young people have taught me to slow down and respect what is in front of me. I offer services that comfort people and assist them to build their skills, even when they don't think they can. I work to assist people to feel less overwhelmed and better equipped to cope with life stressors.

I know reaching out can feel like a big step, especially when you're already feeling stretched. It’s completely normal to feel unsure about starting therapy - many people do. But you don’t have to navigate life’s challenges alone. Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just unsure about your next step, I’m here to help. Maybe anxiety, self-doubt, or relationship struggles are weighing you down. Or perhaps you’ve been carrying the impact of past trauma, and you're ready to find relief. Whatever has brought you here, you deserve a space where you feel truly heard, supported, and understood.

I've worked extensively with people that struggle with the idea of counselling. I provide support for most concerns, with a special interest in drug and alcohol use, anger management, anxiety, stress, improving mood and emotions. I'm experienced with those who struggle to talk or open up- telehealth can sometimes work well if you're unsure. .I encourage seeing it as building on wellbeing and self-improvement rather than thinking it's about fixing something wrong. For over 15 years I’ve supported people wanting to enhance the way they deal with life's challenges or make changes to themself no longer serving them well.

My interest and passion for health care began in my early adolescence as a volunteer at a school for children with special needs. In the years that followed I worked with people on the spectrum with high behavioural needs and also in group homes for people with chronic and severe mental illness. I then trained as a Clinical Psychologist and continued to deepen my experience and passion in the 20+ years I have worked with NSW Health in a number of different of roles. How do substance and drug recovery or rehabilitation programs work?
In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other clients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals reside at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counsellors, and psychotherapists. Staff often also includes people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other methods.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?
Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?
According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for substance use reduce the amount of drugs they consume. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.

Are there specific medications for substance and drug use?
There are medications approved to treat substance use disorder—such as buprenorphine, methadone, naltrexone, and acamprosate. These medications do help people cope with substance use as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone can help reduce cravings, methadone is an opioid medication used to treat severe pain, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.
