Seeking counselling can feel overwhelming. Years of working with young people have taught me to slow down and respect what is in front of me. I offer services that comfort people and assist them to build their skills, even when they don't think they can. I work to assist people to feel less overwhelmed and better equipped to cope with life stressors.

Choosing the right psychologist can be daunting, especially when you're feeling vulnerable and unsure how a stranger could help. Creating a good connection and understanding is always my first aim to establish trust and start an open and honest dialogue. I have a warm, down-to-earth, approachable, and compassionate demeanor fostering a non-judgmental environment that encourages you to speak freely and openly. Being an immigrant in this country and at times having “walked a road less traveled”, in my own life, has enriched me with a deep understanding of people and this has allowed me to connect empathetically and naturally.

I support individuals who have come to a point in their life where things are “just not right”, whether it is a general feeling of dissatisfaction, loss of meaning, or a specific situation causing them significant distress (e.g. issues in relationships, health, workplace,…). Opening a safe space to share what is going on is a first step towards feeling better and moving forward. Sometimes, exploring past events and emotions brings an understanding that can appease and help to let go. When you are ready, I work with you to better understand your context, resources and obstacles, and help you build a more grounded and meaningful life.

Drawing from ACT, CBT, strengths-based and transpersonal frameworks, our work may involve practical strategies, deeper self-exploration, mindset and behaviour change, or hypnotherapy to help shift subconscious patterns and beliefs.
People often come to counselling at a point where something no longer fits — a relationship dynamic, a life transition, a loss of direction, or the growing sense that they’ve been carrying too much for too long. I work with people who want to better understand themselves, untangle emotional patterns, strengthen their relationships, and reconnect with the parts of themselves that have been overlooked, suppressed or stretched thin. While I know this probably sounds like a lot of other therapists—and on paper, it is! But therapy is deeply relational, so finding the right fit matters. If you think that's me, reach out for a chat :)

I take a holistic approach to mental health, and my experiences have enabled me to incorporate multiple modalities (e.g., CBT, DBT, and ACT) to help people feel better and meet their goals.
I've had the privilege of supporting clients from many walks of life across the lifespan. Having lived in rural Tasmania, I understand country town life. I have experience working with childhood trauma, relationships, and grief-and-loss counselling, and I bring a strong attachment focus to therapy. I also have experience supporting people with neurospicy brains; you will find my approach strength-based and neuro-affirming. I like to bring my sense of creativity to each session, as ever-changing life requires finding effective and evidence-based strategies to meet needs.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists
How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?
The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?
Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?
A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
