I am Mitch, my pronouns are he, him, and his. I am a counsellor who specialises in working with youth (12-24 years), the LGTBIQA+ community and parents of LGBTIQA+ children. I started practising counselling in 2013 at a university in Brisbane, supporting students of the LGBTIQA+ community. I have worked at youth mental health centres, community organisations and in the corporate space. Everyone’s story is important, meaningful, and beautiful, and I would like to hear yours. My counselling focuses on four main elements; hearing, understanding, connecting and supporting.
I enjoy working with individuals of any age who may find seeking help difficult, and who are concerned that nobody will understand the struggles they face. I can help to alleviate feelings of shame and self-criticism, and provide gentle support to help clients develop greater strength to recover from and overcome obstacles that inhibit the ability to thrive and find contentment. When working with children I provide highly non-directive, play-based support, with an aim to develop their abilities for self-compassion and enable them to securely and effectively navigate the many trials that life inevitably presents over time.

Counselling may also help if you are struggling with low self-esteem, if you are sad, anxious or depressed, or concerned about your relationships.

As a creative person, I understand the deep desire that people have to be authentic, expressive, and craft a unique life that feels nourishing and joyful. I believe a large part of therapeutic work is un-learning the things we’ve been told we “should” be, letting go of the need for perfection, and building a relationship with the innate worthiness we already have. By combining counselling, creativity, mindfulness, and meditation, I hope to guide people towards a place of deep self-compassion and self-love. I have founded my practice, Creative Roots Wellness, to serve those in the Hobart community. www.creativerootswellness.com

Hi, I'm Chris, I am relationship therapist with a special interest in working with women, men and couples to improve their wellbeing and relationships. Being a mother, partner and professional I know what it's like to feel the tension between balancing work, parenting and being a partner. After giving everything to work, children and partner we often forget about nourishing and making time for ourselves. My clients tell me that feel like they have lost a little part of themselves, are concerned about the loss of connection in their relationships. I am passionate about helping reconnect with themselves and rebuild their relationship.

When you're overwhelmed, overworked and anxious, you are in survival mode. You're in too deep to think ahead. And it's way too hard to enact that self care plan. In fact, even thinking about it can feel exhausting. What you need is a way to create space and connect back into yourself.

My ideal client would be someone experiencing lack of intimacy & frequent conflicts in their relationship. Their presenting issues might involve lack of trust & unhealthy ways of communication. They would need skills & strategies to communicate more effectively & ways to make repairs after conflicts. They would also need tools to rebuild trust and foster intimacy. Another ideal client would be someone who has experienced trauma, childhood or more recent. They might experience anxiety, flashbacks & nightmares. Their goals would be to process the trauma & better manage their distressing thoughts & feelings.
