Something isn't working, and you've likely been carrying it a while. You might be anxious, flat, or stuck in patterns you can see clearly but can't shift. Perhaps therapy has helped before without reaching the thing underneath. My work is integrative, experiential and relational. Rather than only talking about difficulties, we slow down and work with what's happening as it happens — emotion, bodily experience, the parts of you that protect and the parts that hurt. I draw on AEDP, alongside IFS, CBT, ACT and EMDR.

When you are experiencing chronic pain, fatigue, changes to your memory or learning abilities, sleep disturbances, bladder or bowel issues or incontinence, changes to sexual function, issues getting out into your community or socializing, changes to your role at work or in the family, grief and loss, stressful hospitalisations - reaching out can be hard!
Hi, I'm Kelly. I am a therapist with a special interest in working with people living with disabilities and chronic health conditions – especially neurological and acquired disabilities. We know that people living with disabilities are more at risk of experiencing mental illnesses such as depression and anxiety. You might have seen a mental health professional before, but felt that they just “didn’t get it”. You might find yourself having to explain your condition over and over again, or explaining to your therapist why something they've suggested isn’t practical for you to implement.

I work with adults (18 and older) who have experienced traumatic life circumstances and are feeling the weight of those experiences in their daily lives. Whether trauma has left you feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or struggling to move forward, you don't have to navigate it alone.I offer an integrative approach to healing that honors the whole person- mind, body, and experience. Drawing from both top-down and bottom-up methods, I combine evidence-based talk therapy with somatic and body-based practices to support a processing and recovery from the impacts of trauma

Sometimes we know everything we could do to change things, but we just can't make it through the fog. If you've been lying awake at night, tossing and turning, tried talk therapy, and still find yourself stuck, there are ways beyond words that can help. I work with music, art, imagery and the body (including EMDR and Internal Family Systems), to access different pathways towards clarity and ease. Many of the people I see are therapists and clinicians who spend their days supporting others. I offer in-depth therapy (weekly or fortnightly) and short-term, intensive therapy options depending on your needs.

Sleep or Insomnia Therapists
How effective is treatment for insomnia?
The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.

Are there specific medications for sleep problems?
There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.

Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?
There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.

What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?
Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
