My approach is client centred and holistic with the client’s emotional, mental, and physical wellbeing the focus of my sessions. I believe in a mind-body connection and understand the power in releasing emotion that we often store in our bodies when it doesn’t feel safe to express. This can be the result of trauma or life experience that prevents us from living with a sense of stability or peace and often without the ability of knowing what to do with these big emotions. Children especially struggle with this, and Art therapy provides them with the opportunity to express these feelings without the pressure of using words.
I specialise in Grief and Loss relating to (loss of job, home, child or significant person, relationships, body function due to illness or trauma), Emotional regulation (relating to disorders and disability, illness and pain, anxiety, trauma) and Personal development (self-esteem, spirituality and positive relationship between mind and body)
Being heard, validated, and seen in a safe environment are important aspects to meaningful therapy. A place where a client can also be themselves and express their feelings freely is what my Art Therapy sessions provide. Clients do not need to be great at art making just willing to create and follow my guidance as I assist them to safely explore their issues
