I believe in a strength-based collaborative approach to therapy.
You have come here with a concern you want some help with. Understanding that concern, its impact on your life, and its place within the story of your life is an integral part of the therapy process. My specialty clinical interests include adult ADHD assessment and treatment, anxiety, depression, stress management, and helping clients navigate significant life changes. I am also trained in clinical hypnotherapy which I utilise in the management of chronic pain conditions such as endometriosis, fibro neuralgia and IBS.

I have experience using a range of therapeutic approaches and assessments such as: Acceptance and Commitment (ACT); Cognitive Behavioural (CBT) Dialectical (DBT); Motivational Interviewing (MI); Strength-Based approaches; Wechsler cognitive (IQ) and memory assessments (WISC, WAIS, WMS) and other Psychological Testing and Evaluation.
… Dayle currently has no waitlist… My name is Dayle and I believe that therapy needs to be flexible and adapted to your particular situation, background, potential, and that treatment has to resonate with you and your needs. My approach to therapy is to remain honest, respectful and ensure that you have a safe space to feel comfortable. I only deliver individual sessions in a Telehealth format (unless an assessment is required). The reason I opted for a Telehealth only service was to allow responsive care during COVID-19 for clients whose symptoms were made worse by current circumstances.

There are 5 core principles embedded in all modalities I list for my practice: person-centred, strength-based, neurodiversity-affirming, LGBTQIA+ affirming, and trauma-informed.
Hi, I am Yuki. I am a neurodivergent & queer counsellor who is committed to providing a safe & nonjudgmental (shame-free) space for all genders, identities, neurotypes, and bodies. I collaborate with clients to explore their unique inner experiences being identified as neurodivergent; LGBTQIA+; CALD and more. I work from a non-pathologising stance, meaning that I will not see clients solely as their labels and/or diagnoses, rather, each person is their own unique being and we co-design strategies that work for the particular individual/situation.

Life can offer challenges that can simply be overwhelming. It is in those times that many of us feel confused/lost or simply unheard in our relationships and struggle to communicate with our loved ones. For some of us trauma from our past is captivating enough to feel stuck and hold us back to fully become who we are suppose to be or experience of loss and grief impact our well-being and challenge our mental health. It could be anxiety and depression that keep you captive. If you are experiencing any of this or other life challenges I would encourage you to reach out and take a step towards well-being and meaning full life.

Strength-Based Counsellors

How does strength-based therapy work?

During strength-based therapy sessions, the therapist will ask about an individual’s experiences of stress, pain, or trauma with the goal of orienting the client to view themselves as a survivor rather than a victim, and focusing on their strengths rather than on their weaknesses. In framing a client’s personal narrative along these lines, the therapist and client work together to identify existing skills that can be harnessed.

Is strength-based therapy evidence-based?

Strength-based therapy is an evidence-based treatment that has been studied extensively and shown to be effective across domains. The treatment has been found to be particularly effective in helping individuals who are experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, and other mental health concerns. Strength-based therapy has been used by therapists to help clients for more than 60 years.

How long does strength-based therapy last?

There’s no precise timeline for strength-based therapy. The duration of treatment depends on the individual’s specific needs and goals and the severity of their concerns. Some individuals may find they achieve their therapeutic goals quickly, while others might benefit from ongoing support and guidance in order to continue progressing.

How effective is strength-based therapy?

Clinical research and decades of practice have shown strength-based therapy to be an effective treatment to improve mental health and well-being for many conditions. The treatment can engender a sense of connection and collaboration between the therapist and the individual, fostering a positive therapeutic relationship. For individuals with narcissistic tendencies, strength-based therapy may be less effective, as the focus on the individual’s strengths may undermine the work needed to honestly assess the challenges the individual faces.
