Hi, I'm Sara, an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with a special interest in trauma and PTSD. Trauma and PTSD can be complex with many layers. It impacts the body, brain, relationships sense of safety and trust in ourselves and the world around us. When we have experienced trauma or been exposed to traumatic events we tend to push the memories or images out of our mind, trying to get on with life as if nothing has happened. This takes a huge amount of energy to keep getting on with everyday life.
I work in a person centred way using a trauma informed practice, understanding the complexities of trauma and working with people to create a environment where they feel in control and safe to work through and make sense of the trauma. I have completed training in EMDR, Schema, and Cognitive Processing therapy.
It takes strength and courage to confront the past. I work with people to build on their strengths, resources and skills. To find a way of working where the person feels a sense of control and an environment where they feel okay to be vulnerable.
