In today’s society, many factors contribute to feelings of confusion, distraction, and a lack of clarity. In this social-media-driven age, humans are becoming increasingly distant from one another while also forming unrealistic expectations around identity and purpose. I aim to assist individuals in breaking through these societal expectations and barriers, uncovering their true, authentic selves and reaching their full potential.

I specialise in helping adolescents and adults understand complex neurodivergent presentations with clarity, compassion and evidence-informed care.
If you’ve found yourself here, I’m guessing life has become harder than it needs to be. Perhaps you’ve spent years trying harder, only to wonder why it never seemed to get any easier. Maybe you’ve become incredibly good at coping, while privately feeling overwhelmed. Maybe you’ve spent your life feeling misunderstood, or perhaps someone you love is struggling and you don’t know how to reach them anymore. Whatever has brought you here, I’m glad you found your way.

Many people living with complex trauma, anxiety, neurodivergence, and LGBTQIA+ minority stress come to therapy believing there's something "wrong" with them. We can struggle for a lifetime in our attempts to "fix" ourselves and our lives. But what if the basic premise isn't true? My practice is grounded in the belief that you've responded to your life exactly as anyone else would, given what you've been through. In our work, I'll support you to understand the impact of past experiences, commit to new ways of responding and relating, and move with courage toward what truly matters to you.

People come to see me because they feel stuck in their lives. They might feel disconnected socially, like they lack true meaning in their life, unfulfilled in work or struggling with their romantic relationships. Often they come because they feel they are not good enough in some fundamental way. These are universal issues we all face and therapy is a brave step towards bringing compassionate healing to the subtle conscious and unconscious parts of self that create the patterns of thoughts, feelings and behaviour that keep us stuck in seemingly never ending cycles.

If you're considering therapy you're likely entertaining the possibility of change! Many clients have a sense of feeling 'stuck' - that what they've been doing isn't sustainable - old coping/survival strategies aren't workable and use up valuable energy, e.g.. avoidance of/distracting from/suppressing/whiteknuckling/ruminating on: thoughts, emotions, bodily sensations, urges, images, memories. These maintain negative cycles, keep our emotional brain vigilant to 'threat' and our nervous system mobilised in a stress response. What if we could imagine a future we'd like to participate in, regardless of what's showing up in the present?

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
