For those of you who want to know about frameworks, I integrate approaches such as ACT, Schema, IFS, somatic approaches, CBT, to support insight, emotional awareness and meaningful change at a pace that feels right for you.
Hey there! I’m Catherine. We all know what a counsellor does, we listen and support. However, we all work a little differently.
So, in my practise, I love working with people from all walks of life, who want to understand their inner world on a deeper level. This includes your feelings, thoughts, relationship patterns... those areas that you may feel are little tougher to talk about and understand.
I am deeply curious in helping you find ways to feel less distressed & overwhelmed. I love supporting you to find your answers to life stressors, so you can feel more connected to yourself.

My approach to therapy is client centered and outcome informed. Outcomes are measured at the beginning of each session using a brief questionnaire about how you have been coping in the previous week. Therapy will focus on those things that have challenged your coping skills. At the end of each session, I use another brief measure to rate how the session was for you. Did you feel heard, respected, and understood; did we talk about what you wanted to talk about, and was my approach a good fit for you? This feedback is important for me to tailor sessions to your needs.

I am an authentic and bubbly French-Australian human who made the decision to become a counsellor after my own lived experiences of mental and physical health struggles. Born in rural France, where none ever talked about mental health, I began my adult life as a high-achieving corporate professional who believed the only approach to life’s problems was to “get on with it” and just find a way to keep going. Until I realised this didn’t actually work effectively or wholeheartedly and discovered that mental health is a real, normal, valid part of being a human. I now walk the talk and value my physical, mental, emotional health.

Using various strategies from different modalities such as CBT and ACT, you will thrive.
I discovered both the joys and the true potential of effective counselling when I began working as a Case Manager for an Adelaide based VET sector provider. Being a resource person for a diverse cohort of students aged 18-64 opened a window on the barriers they faced, from challenges related to language, ability and socio-economic factors to mental health issues such as anxiety and depression. In this role I learned to identify the things that hold many of us back and to focus on finding ways to move forward such as developing strategies for self-managing negative or unhelpful thoughts.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists
How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.
What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?
The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.
Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?
Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.
How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?
A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
