Whatever the issue, my first aim is to create a safe environment for clients to talk, and for them to feel they are being heard and understood. Trauma survivors may grapple with debilitating symptoms such as hyper-vigilance, and emotional dysregulation, seeking to regain a sense of safety and control. A struggling couple may strive to rebuild trust, connection, teamwork, and restore intimacy in their relationship. Grieving individuals may require support in navigating grief and adjusting to life after loss. Those battling anxiety and stress may seek strategies to manage overwhelming emotions and be more at ease with self and life.

I don't want to simply teach you how to cope better — I want you to help you genuinely FEEL better. You’re living with the impact of trauma and it's exhausting. Flashbacks, fear, anxiety, shame, or ongoing problems in relationships. You might feel on edge, disconnected, or trapped in cycles you can’t break. You want clear progress: fewer triggers, more control over your emotions, and the ability to move forward without the past running your life. I'm so glad you're here, because I can help.

If you're considering therapy you're likely entertaining the possibility of change! Many clients have a sense of feeling 'stuck' - that what they've been doing isn't sustainable - old coping/survival strategies aren't workable and use up valuable energy, e.g.. avoidance of/distracting from/suppressing/whiteknuckling/ruminating on: thoughts, emotions, bodily sensations, urges, images, memories. These maintain negative cycles, keep our emotional brain vigilant to 'threat' and our nervous system mobilised in a stress response. What if we could imagine a future we'd like to participate in, regardless of what's showing up in the present?

A Space to Feel Heard
Often we get caught up focusing on life, friendships, family or work that our own wellbeing can take a back seat. We can forget that if we’re not taking care of ourselves, we run the risk of burning out, becoming unwell or begrudging our responsibilities. This can result in feelings of numbness, as if you’re just going through the motions, difficulties with health, reliance on alcohol or other substances, high levels of emotional fluctuations and difficulties in relationship with others. If you'd like to reconnect with vitality and wellbeing, feel reinvigorated and engaged with life again, counselling may help.

Trauma is real. It affects us all. Over time, we develop coping mechanisms that help us survive—but are they still serving you? Therapy is an opportunity to increase awareness, identify new tools, and create meaningful change that supports your well-being. The Problem Is the Problem—Not You.
Do you know how to fill your emotional fuel tank? Many of us push through life running on empty. I work with clients to recognize patterns, develop self-compassion, and build new routines and rituals that foster sustainable change. As a psychotherapist—not a psychologist—I focus on self awareness and exploration of your needs.

My ideal client is someone who feels stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected — perhaps carrying anxiety, trauma, relationship struggles, or burnout. They’ve tried to cope on their own but long for real change and understanding. What they want most is relief: to feel calmer, clearer, and more like themselves again. They seek a space where they feel safe, heard, and not judged — where evidence-based therapy and genuine care help them heal, grow, and rebuild confidence in their own strength and direction.

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
