I work with adults and older adults struggling with insomnia, sleep anxiety, or poor sleep quality — often people who have tried other approaches without lasting results, or who sense something deeper is keeping their nervous system alert at night.
I specialise in insomnia and sleep disorders, drawing on CBT-I, Compassion Focused Therapy, ACT, and EMDR. My work focuses on understanding what the nervous system is doing when sleep won't come — and building lasting safety, not just better sleep habits. Telehealth across Australia, Tuesday to Thursday.

Once you know exactly ‘what’ to do you will quickly regain control, find your feet, and move forward. I have over 30 years experience helping people and have been a consultant in charge of a major hospital Psychology Clinic. I have also worked in an Anxiety Disorder Clinic, and Family Therapy Clinic. This level of expertise allows for accurate diagnosis and personalised treatment. I employ practical, tested methods. When you are under stress it is easy to fall into the trap of thinking that you are powerless and that this is just the way things are. You will start to believe, “I’m not as capable as I once was"

My ideal clients are neurodivergent teens, young adults and adults who are trying to understand themselves after a long time of feeling misunderstood. They may come to therapy feeling burnt out, masked, overwhelmed, disconnected from themselves, or unsure how to explain their needs without over-apologising. Many are navigating the messy overlap between neurodivergence, chronic illness, sensory sensitivity, executive dysfunction, identity, relationships and the exhaustion of trying to function in environments that were not built with them in mind.

Healthy relationships with ourselves (and others) starts with understanding what is happening in your body and knowing how to respond accordingly. Our worry, anxiety, anger and stress are all important messengers prompting change; if only we knew how to hear and decode their specific instructions, we would welcome the opportunity to discover our desires and meet the needs with more enthusiasm. That's exactly where I can help.

You may appear to be functioning well on the outside. But inside, something still feels unresolved. You've done the reading, perhaps even the therapy, and yet the patterns persist. The weight hasn't lifted. Something deeper is asking to be met. I'm a Clinical Psychologist offering online therapy across Australia, working at the intersection of trauma healing and depth psychology. I draw on EMDR, Brainspotting, Internal Family Systems and somatic approaches to work with the parts of you that talking alone hasn't reached. Not just processing what happened, but exploring who you are becoming.

Sleep or Insomnia Therapists
How effective is treatment for insomnia?
The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.

Are there specific medications for sleep problems?
There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.

Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?
There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.

What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?
Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
