I work with children from 7+, teens, older adults, and anyone who feels overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally stuck, or alone in what they are carrying. Many come with trauma, grief, neurodivergence, or relational pain, and need a space that feels safe, gentle, and deeply attuned. Words are not always enough, which is why creative arts and the calming presence of horses, donkeys, dogs, and chickens can help create safety, connection, and a sense of ease. Often, clients want to feel more understood, more regulated, and more like themselves again.

You may be someone who feels things deeply and notices more than most people around you. On the outside you may appear capable and coping, yet internally feel anxious, overwhelmed, or drained from carrying more than you let on. You might find yourself overthinking interactions, absorbing other people’s emotions, or struggling to set clear boundaries in relationships. Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, empathic, and often intuitive individuals who want to better understand themselves, feel calmer in their own nervous system, and develop a stronger sense of where they end and others begin.

Struggling to talk without arguing? Feeling misunderstood or ignored? Want to reconnect and communicate better? Relationship challenges are common, but the good news is – with the right help, it’s possible to heal, grow, and rediscover the deep connection you’ve been longing for. As a trained relationship therapist and marriage counsellor, I specialise in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and the Gottman Method, backed by years of scientific research. I work with couples to help them move from feeling stuck and frustrated to reconnecting and growing together.

Navigating the world as a neurodivergent person can be incredibly challenging, especially without adequate support. If you're autistic, have ADHD, are part of the LGBTQIA+ community, or are a trauma survivor, you know the unique hurdles that come with higher rates of trauma and PTSD. Life can feel overwhelming when you're managing sensory differences, executive functioning struggles, and the exhausting work of masking.

I believe a therapist who is a good fit is a person you get a sense that you will feel safe, supported, and connected with while working through what you need to work through. Even though this is often an intuitive process, many people have important preferences. I encourage people to ask the questions they need to ask during a “vibe check” phone call. For those who are new to therapy, I enjoy supporting people through the initial discovery process - even if we arrive at the conclusion that something else would be a better fit. Honesty and transparency are very important to me, and I most of all would like to be helpful!

My ideal client is someone who feels stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected — perhaps carrying anxiety, trauma, relationship struggles, or burnout. They’ve tried to cope on their own but long for real change and understanding. What they want most is relief: to feel calmer, clearer, and more like themselves again. They seek a space where they feel safe, heard, and not judged — where evidence-based therapy and genuine care help them heal, grow, and rebuild confidence in their own strength and direction.

Attachment-based Therapists
Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioural Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
