In today’s society, many factors contribute to feelings of confusion, distraction, and a lack of clarity. In this social-media-driven age, humans are becoming increasingly distant from one another while also forming unrealistic expectations around identity and purpose. I aim to assist individuals in breaking through these societal expectations and barriers, uncovering their true, authentic selves and reaching their full potential.

Many of us are striving to be the best person we can. Sometimes we lose connection with that person and the satisfying, and enriching, often preferred life seems out of reach or only for others. We can have this preferred life. It's possible! Sometimes experiences of trauma, adversity and pain form stories around us that recruit us into thinking we can't. Some stories can even invite actions we regret that can separate us from people we care about, even from who we would prefer to be. Examining these ideas and stories in therapy can free up new ways of thinking and living for more fulfilling and joyful lives.

When struggling with the symptoms of depression, anxiety, grief & trauma & other issues, it is hard to gain perspective to understand your experience, your emotions, your problems and to see a way forward. These things can leave you feeling frustrated, exhausted and alone. It pays to speak with a mental health professional about your situation. I can provide the opportunity for you to share and make sense of your story in a safe environment where you will be heard & understood. After sharing your story we can work on specific goals and strategies to counter problems and promote more effective approaches.

In my experience, therapy isn't fruitful through some special tool or technique but genuine, honest human connection. An ideal client would be someone who is ready to meet not as counsellor & client, but as two people trying to make some sense of in this crazy world.

Many of the people I work with feel stuck in patterns they don’t fully understand. On the outside they’re capable and high‑functioning. On the inside they’re using sex, porn, dating, love, work, gambling, gaming, control, or emotional distance to cope with stress, shame, loneliness, or relationship pain.
These behavioural or “process” addictions bring short‑term relief but often create more secrecy, disconnection, and repeated relationship struggles. Together we explore the childhood wounds that sit underneath these patterns and begin to build healthier ways of coping and relating.

I've spent twelve years on the front line of community services. I've worked as a drug and alcohol counsellor. I've supported people rebuilding their lives after prison. I've spent years working with children, adolescents and families under strain. I’ve worked with many couples on the brink of separation. And I've facilitated around a thousand men's behaviour change group sessions — thousands of hours in rooms with men working through anger, relationships and accountability, many of whom walked in convinced that counselling had nothing to offer them.
That kind of work teaches you things that you can’t learn in a textbook.

You may be someone who feels things deeply and notices more than most people around you. On the outside you may appear capable and coping, yet internally feel anxious, overwhelmed, or drained from carrying more than you let on.
You might find yourself overthinking interactions, absorbing other people’s emotions, or struggling to set clear boundaries in relationships. Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, empathic, and often intuitive individuals who want to better understand themselves, feel calmer in their own nervous system, and develop a stronger sense of where they end and others begin.

Men's Issues Therapists
Is therapy for men different than it is for women?
Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.
How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
How can men prepare for therapy?
Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.
What should men know about the process of therapy?
One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
