All people at some time may benefit from some outside perspective on whatever they are going through, grief, loss of meaning, anxiety and depression. My belief is that psycho-education can empower clients to live life as more fully in line with their own values and beliefs and that often these are not the ones they were taught in their family of origin or school or by society. I previously worked with Injured clients helping them come to terms with loss of function and changed life circumstances. I came from a family affected by alcoholism and work with clients with issues arising from growing up in a dysfunctional household.
I am a person centred therapist. I work to clarify what a client wants to achieve in therapy and help them to achieve their goals. As well as my MA I have a Diploma in Viktor Frankl's Meaning centred approach. (Read Man's Search for Meaning). Frankl believed that a person's body and mind (thoughts and emotions) can become sick but the spirit is always whole
I am passionate about psychotherapy because psycho-education has changed my life. This has not always been easy or straight-forward, however, today I approve of myself, my values and beliefs and find working with others meaningful as well as beneficial to myself as well as to my clients.
