When life becomes difficult, therapy can offer a place to pause, make sense of what is happening and find a way forward. My work is trauma-informed and grounded in Gestalt psychotherapy, attachment theory and nervous system awareness. Alongside my clinical practice, I am an author and writer exploring emotional neglect, self-worth and the ways early relationships continue to shape us. I work with private clients, support students of Gestalt psychotherapy and offer a complimentary discovery call through my website.

I work alongside women navigating neurodivergence, highly sensitive nervous systems, trauma, chronic illness, autoimmune conditions, burnout, anxiety, addiction, experiences of oppression, and significant life transitions including perimenopause and menopause. Many arrive feeling disconnected from themselves, their bodies or their sense of meaning, often carrying symptoms that have not been fully understood through traditional approaches. Together we explore the stories, patterns, relationships and systems that have shaped their experience and support a process of reconnecting with self, body, community and life.

You are so much more than a symptom, a struggle, or a diagnosis. People come to therapy for different reasons—often to work through challenges, and also in search of something more: greater self-understanding, connection or meaning. I offer a safe, compassionate space to explore both life’s challenges and opportunities for growth. I'm guided by a holistic understanding that our inner and outer worlds are deeply interconnected through mind, body, emotion, relationship, health, environment and spirit. I am passionate about these connections, particularly in the areas of complex trauma, chronic health conditions and ancestral patterns

Hi, I'm Bec Stewart. Many people have shared with me that while traditional talk therapy can be helpful, it sometimes doesn’t bring about the deeper change or healing they’re hoping for. That’s why I'm passionate about a holistic, integrative approach, which gently supports you in going beyond surface-level solutions and exploring the roots of your challenges. (EMDR, DBR, parts-work, & somatic therapies ). I know this kind of therapy can take courage, but many find it opens the door to more meaningful, long-lasting change. It’s a privilege to walk alongside you on what could be a transformative journey.

I work with people who are thoughtful, reflective, and ready to actively engage in therapy. Many of my clients are functioning well on the outside yet feel anxious, burnt out, stuck, or caught in repeating relational patterns. They’re not looking for quick fixes, but for a deeper understanding of how their nervous system shapes their emotions, body, and relationships. Through somatic psychotherapy, we work at a steady and supportive pace to build regulation, capacity, and trust in yourself. Over time, clients often feel more grounded, less reactive, and more able to meet life and relationships with clarity, choice, and ease.

Codependency Therapists
What therapy types help with codependency problems?
Both couples and family therapy and cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT) can help with the relationship difficulties referred to as codependency. Such problems typically include inappropriate feelings of responsibility for a loved one’s destructive behavior, irrational patterns of thinking about such behavior, and family interaction patterns in which the needs of one troubled member override the needs of others in a household.

What happens in therapy for codependency?
Spouses and family members learn and practice how to interact and support each other in a healthy way without sacrificing their own needs or well-being. They learn the limits of their responsibility for their loved ones and correct faulty patterns of thinking and feeling that underlie codependent behavior. Individuals may be encouraged to nurture an array of social relationships and to cultivate their own talents and interests so that they develop a healthy sense of self outside the family.

How does therapy help a person or couple overcome codependency?
Therapy helps people establish healthy ways of being in a relationship. Spouses and family members learn how to nurture and support one another without sacrificing their own needs or allowing the needs of one person to dominate the dynamic. Individuals learn how to say no and set boundaries, and how to maintain their own identity and self-esteem. Therapy helps people understand that they are not responsible for the feelings and actions of others. It also helps individuals deal with the turbulence that can come from living with a person suffering from such conditions as substance abuse and mental illness.

What is the goal of therapy for codependency?
One goal of therapy for codependency is to alleviate feelings of responsibility for and correct irrational patterns of thinking about loved ones whose behavioral problems override the needs of others in a household. Therapy helps people establish healthy boundaries of behavior and speak up for their own needs in a relationship. In addition, people learn how to maintain a healthy relationship, one in which both parties give and receive equally and are able to retain their own identity.
