If you need help unpacking what the hell is going on. If you know you nearly have it worked out but for these things that keep getting in the way. If you think you are OK but it is all those pesky family, work mates, or colleagues who drive you nuts. If you have had more diagnoses than help, more good ideas flung your way than anything concrete, then perhaps you could pay me a visit. I pride myself in having no long-term clients because I do what I say, and I do not turn you into a professional therapy clients or perpetual victim of life. I get curious in why you have come, what you want for yourself, what success might look like.

I am a Brisbane-based psychologist and psychodynamic psychotherapist in private practice, working with individuals (16+ years) and couples. My way of working tends to resonate with those who feel a quiet pull to understand themselves more deeply, and with those who sense that their relationships—both with themselves and others—could hold more ease and coherence. I try to approach each person as singular, attending not only to their symptoms or struggles, but to the particular texture of their inner world and the unfolding story of who they are becoming.

You may be feeling anxious, worn down, or quietly exhausted from carrying responsibility for others. Many of my clients are men who over-function - fixing problems, staying strong, and putting everyone else first - while struggling with guilt, shame, or burnout underneath. You might feel stuck in patterns where you give more than you receive, or struggle with boundary challenges and balancing family, work, or faith. You might be seeking calmer emotions, stronger relationships and a clearer, more authentic sense of self. Women with similar struggles are also warmly welcome.

Do you feel lonely in your relationship? Do you argue about who is to blame? Or, do you feel disconnected from yourself, your friends or children? Are you longing for more from your life? I'd love to help. My approach is relational, non-judgemental and de-pathologising. I aim to level the power imbalance, so, rather than being the expert, we work together in an authentic collaborative relationship in a process of awareness-raising. Together, we come to understand habitual patterns, unmet attachment needs & longings - toward desired, lasting change through open, safe and honest communication with clear boundaries.

Men's Issues Therapists
Is therapy for men different than it is for women?
Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.
How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
How can men prepare for therapy?
Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.
What should men know about the process of therapy?
One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
