I enjoy helping clients who are experiencing life challenges and are stressed. It is rewarding to journey with clients as they take the initial step acknowledging they need help then be willing to look deeply within themselves as they learn ways to cope. My clients want to lead more satisfying and healthy lives, enjoy happier and more harmonious relationships (at home or work), and fulfil their potential. I help my clients achieve greater inner calm, resilience, health and wellbeing, and personal goals, so they enjoy their life, love and appreciate who they are, get off autopilot default mode, and be a positive force in the world.

My approach is systemic and relationship-based. That means I don’t see people as ‘the problem’. Instead, we look at what’s happening around you — your relationships, roles, pressures, life stages, history, and supports — and how all of that is impacting how you’re feeling. It’s a non-pathologising way of working that focuses on understanding, not labelling.

Accepting new clients. Evening appointments available. I am a general psychologist with over 30 years of experience. I come to therapy with a non-pathologising view of symptoms and behaviour. My view is that the vast majority of symptoms of "mental illness" are an understandable response to various life circumstances. Some deep in our past, some in our present. I am passionate about helping people to heal, grow, and live full lives. I enjoy working at deep levels to shift stuckness, often the result of prior trauma. I work only with adults.

My approach is warm, relaxed, and down to earth, no judgment, just genuine care and practical support. I’m a generally registered psychologist who works with children, adolescents, and adults around concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, self-harm, emotional regulation, stress, and major life transitions. My ideal client is someone who feels overwhelmed by life's demands yet yearns for a sense of clarity, peace, and purpose. They might be experiencing anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship issues or navigating a major life transition that feels daunting. They are seeking not only to alleviate immediate distress but to foster lasting personal growth. They want more than symptom relief—they’re eager to understand the “why” behind their feelings, patterns, and reactions. They desire tools and strategies to manage their emotions, communicate effectively, and ultimately build a life that aligns with their true values.

I have over fifteen years of experience listening to clients who feel unheard, confused, angry, disheartened or hopeless about past or current difficulties in their life. Difficulties may be related to loss, relationship breakdown, parenting, children, life transitions, daily family struggles, health issues, or stress management. Perhaps there is something specific they would like to change, or they may need to explore before being ready to discover some goals and options. People are generally seeking to feel heard, validated, and guided, while having their individual perspectives and preferences valued.

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
