I aim to provide a connection from inner vulnerability to someone and somewhere safe and supportive. I believe that we each have unique windows of tolerance, narrow or wide, depending on our experiences and it is our aim through therapy to support people to widen their window, and grow their capacity to thrive. My approach as a therapist combines Counselling, Equine Assisted Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Somatic Attachment Focused Expressive Therapy, Art therapy, Sand and Symbol Therapy, Trauma Informed Guided Drawing, Mindfulness and Neuroscience.

To offer a safe, confidential, non-judgemental space for clients to freely express and explore their truth is my passion and purpose in life. One of my favourite quotes which guides my practice is by Bessel van der Kolk who states: "Being able to feel safe with other people is probably the single most important aspect of mental health; safe connections are fundamental to meaningful and satisfying lives." - Bessel Van Der Kolk. Through the many forms of listening, I am able to enter into the world of my client and walk alongside them as they explore, express and empower themselves to navigate the challenges in their life.

I work mainly with women who for whatever reason, are finding life a bit of a struggle. I do also work with men to help them understand the women in their lives. I am also trained in couple counselling. Some of the most common reasons come to see me include relationship issues, mothering, work/life balance problems, anxiety, depression, grief/loss to name but a few. Commonly we get bogged down in how we “should” be doing things, rather than what suits us and our lives. Women tend to put themselves at the back of the queue, and in times of stress, our self care tends to suffer, leading to overwhelm. Let me help!

My ideal client is someone thoughtful, introspective, who’s been shaped by attachment wounds. They struggle with self-doubt, fear rejection, and give so much in relationships but rarely feel truly seen. Maybe they suppress their needs to keep the peace, yet deep down, long for connection that feels safe and mutual. Maybe they avoid relationships altogether because of those fears. They want to break free from old patterns, trust themselves, and feel worthy without needing to prove it. It's someone looking for a space where they can be understood, heal, and finally build the kind of relationships they deserve.

To be listened to is one of the most fundamental needs of a human being. If you’re feeling anxious, worried, confused, stressed, lost, lonely, don't feel good enough or have relationship issues... I am here to help. I love journeying alongside people as they find relief from struggles, achieving goals, relieving anxiety and to have more fulfilling relationships. I especially am drawn to those suffering loss in their lives. Whether it be a loved one, a job, a house or your dreams we can work together to find ways to cope, ease the pain and rediscover purpose and meaning in your life at a time when we feel there is none.

Female Counsellors

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
