Feeling overwhelmed, anxious or exhausted while trying to make everything work, and often doing it quietly, because the people around you don't always understand it.
I'm Nanda. I have a degree in Psychology from Brazil and I'm a registered counsellor in Australia (ACA). I work online with adults who have been living abroad for a while and are ready to understand what they're actually carrying, not to be told what to do, but to find what genuinely makes sense for them.

What we label as harsh self-criticism, addiction, perfectionism, depression, mood disorders, or anxiety can be understood in a different light.
I'm an Internal Family Systems (Level 2) practitioner. I integrate experiential modalities that go beyond what talking therapies can achieve: Coherence Therapy, AEDP, somatic and expressive approaches, all founded in attachment theory and informed by Polyvagal Theory.
These are the most non-shaming, relational and compassionate approaches I know. They work.

I support children 9 plus, adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, self-esteem issues, overwhelming stress, grief and loss, emotional regulation difficulties or trauma taking a holistic, evidence-based approach considering the whole person and their daily life challenges.
As well as typical talk therapy, I utilise non-verbal, creative interventions at times to enable the expression of feelings, emotions and thoughts through expressive modalities such as drawing or using LEGO bricks. This helps to communicate relevant issues and enhance self-understanding, self-development and healing when finding the right words is simply too difficult. I am a registered counsellor also providing support to NDIS self-managed and plan-managed clients in-person or via telehealth Australia-wide.

Our ideal clients are autistic, ADHD, and AuDHD young people, often described as "hard to engage," "shut down," or "burnt out." Many have tried traditional talk therapy and found it overwhelming, boring, or unsafe. They come to us because parents, support coordinators, or schools recognise that the usual format isn't working. We meet them inside the games they love (Minecraft, Roblox, Fortnite, Discord) using play and shared interest to build genuine trust. From there, we support regulation, identity, RSD, school distress, and burnout recovery in a way that respects how their brain actually works.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.
What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.
How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.
How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
