Meeting a new client is a great experience as we get to know each other and how we can work together. I pride myself on taking a completely individualise approach to counselling which is constantly evolving with each session depending on what clients are learning about themselves. My life experience has assisted me in efforts to find themes and ask questions that help individuals deepen their self insight. Clients learn how to ask themselves critical questions along the way that help define their paths. Clients decide whether they want to process the past, share awareness for now or fast forward to what's possible.

I provide a safe and non-judgmental environment for individuals and couples to address the underlying causes of a range of mental health conditions. An educational-based approach is used where clients get to know themselves better understanding below the surface triggers. A flexible approach to help clients suffering from depression, anxiety, relationship problems, post suicide support, domestic violence, social anxiety, and difficulty in forming relationships.

Highly skilled at rapport building, Mary Ann guarantees a holistic, non-judgemental, confidential, caring and empathic service. Each client is an individual with unique choices that are respected. Clients are never labelled and the problem is separated from the client. This approach assists both client and therapist to view the problem as external to the client. The client is not the problem and therefore becomes liberated from it, so that the problem can be looked at, unpacked and successfully tackled from the outside. In this way, clients are supported to discover positive solutions, creating their chosen future and wellbeing.

Stress and trauma affect the way in which we all think and behave. Our mind often gets stuck in this response and it is difficult to think and behave the way we want to. I work with how the mind, brain and body responds to stress and trauma. I work from a whole person perspective in ways we can improve everyday mood, emotional responses and the impact our personal distress has on relationships.
