I’m a clinical psychologist who works with adults experiencing anxiety and depression, as well as a range of other challenges such as trauma, self-esteem concerns, perfectionism, relationship difficulties, adjustment/life transitions, addiction, chronic stress and burnout, grief and loss, and questions around identity and self-worth. Many of the people I see feel stuck in some way. They are often facing difficult decisions, feeling unsure or ambivalent about something, or sensing that they want more from life but aren’t quite sure how to move towards it. I often work with those in human service/caring roles.

Psychologist, MPsych, PsyBA - Clin. Psych

As a therapist, I endeavour to provide a gentle, reflective space in which we can explore your inner world together. One of our deepest needs is to form meaningful emotional bonds throughout life. The ways we experience and internalise relationships, together with our temperament, shape how we develop as individuals. When emotional needs go unmet, we can develop painful feelings, beliefs, and expectations about ourselves and others that obscure our authentic selves. My approach is to help you develop insight into and work through these experiences to foster lasting growth and self-understanding.

In my 27 years as a mental health provider, I have taken great pride in helping people through a variety of challenges and life events. To me, therapy is about become whole again, healing current issues and past traumas, (even the ones we don’t remember, but our bodies and psyche does). Most often clients present with one issue and the connections we make during our work together show many layers and exactly why these situations arise. I help my clients not only understand where they are and why they are there, but also what they must do to change their lives, heal, and move forward a happier and healthier person.

Therapy should feel like a place where you can finally exhale. I'm a registered counselling psychologist who leads with acceptance and stays genuinely curious — about you, about people, about what actually helps. I work with people who've often felt like a bit much, not enough, or just different. I'm deeply committed to meeting you where you are — no judgment, no assumptions, just honest, grounded support.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists
How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine, fluoxetine, and sertraline, among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
