Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Psychologists and Therapists in Ormiston, QLD
I integrate different modalities such as Narrative and Somatic therapies, hypnosis, CBT, and ACT in order to offer a tailor-made experience to my clients.
Life transitions can unsettle your sense of self at any age. Women of all ages experience changes and transitions that leave them feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or quietly lost. You may be facing immigration, menopause, health concerns, career changes, grief, or an identity that no longer fits. Even positive change can feel disorienting. Even long-awaited milestones can carry unexpected grief. Standing at the threshold of adulthood, about to get married, or navigating motherhood can still be challenging. You do not need to be in crisis to seek support.

I am skilled in: CBT, ACT, Positive Psychology, Mindfulness, Sport Psychology & Coaching.
I enjoy helping clients who are experiencing life challenges and are stressed. It is rewarding to journey with clients as they take the initial step acknowledging they need help then be willing to look deeply within themselves as they learn ways to cope. My clients want to lead more satisfying and healthy lives, enjoy happier and more harmonious relationships (at home or work), and fulfil their potential. I help my clients achieve greater inner calm, resilience, health and wellbeing, and personal goals, so they enjoy their life, love and appreciate who they are, get off autopilot default mode, and be a positive force in the world.

We arrive in this world with no map, no compass, no directions. Yet somewhere along the way, we’re told we should just know how to do life — how to love, belong, and hold it all together.
But that’s a myth. Life has no manual. If you feel lost or stuck, it isn’t weakness — it’s being human. Shame tells us to stay quiet until the weight grows too heavy.
The truth? Change begins in the quiet, early moments. You don’t need fixing. You just need permission to stop following invisible rules and trust the wisdom already within you.

By blending traditional talk therapy, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy ( ACT) with somatic (body-based) practices, we work with your nervous system to create change that lasts.
I’m Jess, and I’m here to create a space where you can just show up as you are, no performance required. As a psychologist, my goal isn't to "fix" you, but to collaborate with you. We’ll get curious about what’s happening in your world and help you get back in alignment with what actually matters to you.
I bring a lot of heart, a good dose of humour, and zero judgment to our sessions. I believe therapy works best as an authentic human connection that leaves room for both the heavy stuff and the lighter moments. If you’re feeling a bit anxious about starting, don’t sweat it. We’ll just take it one step at a time.

I use practical, evidence-based approaches including ACT ( Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) and solution-focused counselling — tailored to you, not a one-size-fits-all formula.
Welcome. I'm Louise, anxiety counsellor, ADHDer, mum of two kids, one cat and one dog, lover of nature and home reno shows, and recovering stress head.
Eight years ago I was in full-on stress mode so I made some changes (some big, some small) then returned to this work I truly have a passion for.
I especially love helping women in their 30s and 40s move from stressed, cranky, stuck and overwhelmed, to calm, clear and actually enjoying life, rather than rushing through it on autopilot. That said, I work with adults of all ages and everyone is welcome! What brings people here is usually anxiety, stress, burnout, overwhelm, &/or ADHD.

I am trained in various psychological modalities (CBT, ACT, EMDR, EFCT, Sex Therapy) to address problems.
Many of my clients come to me for support with their gender identity or expression, questions about sexuality, or challenges in their intimate relationships (including open and poly relationships). Together, we take time to understand where these struggles come from, reflect on the emotional weight they may carry, and find practical steps toward healing and growth. I love walking alongside my clients as they work through life’s challenges. My hope is to help them grow in confidence so they can continue their journey on their own, carrying with them the strategies and insights we’ve discovered together.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists
How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.
What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?
The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.
Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?
Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.
How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?
A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
