I provide mental health support/psychological therapy for adults and children/ adolescents from 10 years old and up.
The strongest predictor is therapeutic outcomes is always the therapeutic relationship. Once we have a strong foundation there, I am experienced in applying acceptance commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and eye-movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR), to name a few frameworks that I use.

Hi, I'm Meg. I like to help people with the deeper currents in their life. The ones that are a little stubborn and won't budge through intellectual understanding alone. Sometimes these are threads to past experiences needing more attention, or ways we've adapted to social pressures where there's scope for us to respond more authentically. Using a somatic approach, I can help you connect with the felt sense of these experiences and adaptations. Through deeper emotional processing it becomes possible to make changes you've been hoping for.

I provide evidence-based psychological therapy for adolescents and adults with complex mental health presentations.
I work with people who feel like they’re carrying too much. Sometimes it shows up as anxiety, exhaustion, shame, or the sense that they’re caught in patterns they can’t quite see but can’t seem to change. For others, it’s tied to experiences of trauma, OCD, eating disorders, or the ongoing effort of living in a body or world that hasn’t always felt safe. Many are also navigating questions of identity, neurodivergence, or health alongside their mental health. What they’re looking for is clarity, steady support, and practical ways to start untangling the patterns that leave them feeling stuck.

Many of my clients come to me after years of trying to understand themselves, manage overwhelming emotions, or adapt to environments that do not fully accommodate their needs. I predominantly work with LGBTQIA+ individuals across a range of concerns, with a particular focus on high-functioning anxiety — including perfectionists, high-achievers, people-pleasers and self-sacrificers who are used to coping well on the outside while struggling underneath. I also work with couples experiencing conflict, disconnection or recurring patterns of pursuing and withdrawing, helping them develop a more secure and connected relationship. All of which is grounded in compassion, respect and a pace that balances your autonomy with my professional guidance.

I offer individual psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and adults in-person at my Brisbane CBD office and by telehealth (for older adolescents and adults).
I practise psychodynamic psychotherapy. While outcomes from psychotherapy are different for each person, beyond relief from psychological distress, you may find yourself more accepting or capable of navigating the painful experiences that are typical of life, discover greater personal freedom, or no longer feel afraid to take up space in your relationships.

Together, we create a safe, supportive and non-judgemental space to better understand what's happening, explore the patterns contributing to these challenges, build on your strengths, and develop practical strategies that support meaningful, lasting change at a pace that feels right for you.

I work individually with adults and older adolescents (17+) who are seeking a deeper psychotherapy experience grounded in connection, curiosity, and authenticity.
I aim to foster a meaningful connection with each patient as the foundation for our work. I move between considered thinking and felt experience, letting each inform the other. This balances the space I offer, one where patients can journey to the deepest parts of themselves, held by a presence and responsiveness that allows them to voice their experience.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
When does a teenager need to see a therapist?
Exploration and existential struggle is a normal part of adolescence, but if your teenager’s emotions or behaviours change so as to disrupt their ability to function academically or socially, you may want to consult a therapist. For example, if a teen’s grades in school drop suddenly or if they begin isolating from their friends and only spending time online, a parent may want to consider therapy.

What can an adolescent therapist help with?
Adolescence is a tumultuous time, and a therapist can help with the challenges that arise, whether they relate to emotions, academics, disruptive behaviours, self-esteem, friendships, family dynamics, sexual or gender identity, or alcohol and drug use. A therapist can help teenagers unpack their emotions, understand their experiences, and develop coping skills.

What therapy types are suitable for teenagers?
Teenagers may especially benefit from cognitive behavioural therapy (which identifies unhealthy thought patterns to change emotions and behaviours), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), which teaches emotion regulation and distress tolerance, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), which teaches emotional acceptance and psychological flexibility, and interpersonal therapy, which targets interpersonal difficulties. Additionally, adolescent problems may involve family members; family therapy to improve family dynamics and communication is helpful in those cases.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
