Emotional struggles often signal that something in your life needs attention. Anxiety, mood fluctuations, addictions, and relationship struggles can leave you feeling stuck and unsure of how to move forward. Unprocessed challenging experiences, such as trauma, narcissistic abuse, domestic/family violence and addictions can shape how you see yourself and the world, making it hard to break free from harmful patterns.

You may be sensing that the life you’ve built no longer fits in the way it once did. Grief, relationship strain, burnout, or a quiet inner shift might be pulling you toward deeper truth. You want clarity, steadiness, and emotional coherence, both within yourself and in your relationships. You’re reflective, intuitive, and ready to understand your patterns, regulate your nervous system, and reconnect with a more authentic way of living. A part of you knows there is something meaningful emerging, and you’re looking for a therapist who can meet your depth, honour your inner world, and support real, sustainable change.

If you're looking for a run of the mill counsellor or mental health professional to assist with your mental health queries, feel free to contact one of my very capable colleagues. I look at life through a different lens, with a transpersonal -even spiritual- mindfulness-based filter. Expect to see life from a broader perspective, while still being very practical. Expect to work from the inside out: YOU will change, and then your circumstances will. Understanding how you (and your brain) operate will help you manage your emotions and behaviour more effectively. This, in turn, will make you less sensitive to (negative) emotion-shifts.

I am a PACFA registered clinical counsellor with over 20 years of experience, a certified Level 2 IFS psychotherapist, and a certified mindfulness teacher. I have a special interest in trauma informed, mindfulness and body-based approaches. I specialize in working with complex childhood trauma, but can also help with a range of other issues. My clients have often tried various psychological modalities which helped to some degree, but continued to struggle with certain issues. The combination of therapeutic modalities I use, particularly IFS, often helps people go much deeper within themselves and resolve those issues.

Relationship issues effect most aspects of your life. If we feel safe and secure in our home with our partner, then we can face all other adversity so much easier. I specialize in assisting that close connective bond with Attachment Focused processes using Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy as well as many other modalities which are useful towards the same goal. I believe couple work needs much more time than the standard 50-60 minutes so ask that you be prepared to stay in session between 90 to 120 minutes.

Being able to talk about what's going on in your life in a safe and non-judgemental space can be a powerful catalyst for change. Counselling is based on your needs with interventions grounded in a holistic understanding of you and your life. It aims to facilitate improved self-knowledge and understanding of issues you may be experiencing, which enhances steps towards improved mental health and emotional well being. If agreed upon I am able to work with you in helping to understand the association between past experiences and current behaviour. Early influences can shape us and our ability to exert control over present functioning.

Experiences such as anxiety, depression, anger, self-criticism, avoidance, flashbacks, nightmares, social withdrawal, poor self esteem, perfectionism and/or addictive behaviours are amongst the common symptoms.
My main focus is helping my clients - through relationship with me - feel more connected to themselves and their lives, loved ones, friends and work. Together we explore present difficulties and discover patterns that may have been there for a long time. This gives access to personal growth and healing. Many of my clients have had psychiatric diagnosis; ASD L2, (C) PTSD, BPD, ADHD. I offer Medicare rebates (10 sessions) and Bulk-Bill (No Gap Fee) as I am committed to making quality therapy accessible to the whole local community. I do offer a telehealth option for sessions but prefer face-to-face when possible.

With over 24 years' experience I specialize in relationship counselling and men's anger management and gaslighting.
I specialise in Male and couple counselling. Do you find you get moody, shut down and don't talk. Go into your grumpy bear cave and don't come out for a while. Do you find yourself flicking between being logical and then illogical, really loving, then getting offended if your partner rejects you, and then getting angry? Then we need to talk.

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
