I specialize in Male and couple counselling. Do you find you get moody, shut down and don't talk. Go into your grumpy bear cave and don't come out for a while. Do you find you flick between being logical and then illogical really loving then get offended if your partner rejects you and then you get angry. Then we need to talk. It is important we are a good fit. You need to know I know what it is like being a male and you can relate to me. I assist separated dads, help with Domestic Violence Orders, Family Separation and reunification.

The people who come to see me are often weighed down by difficult past experiences, unprocessed trauma, unhealthy relationships, addictive coping behaviours, anxiety and a feeling of disconnection from themselves and others.
Taking the first step is often the hardest part, however working with a counsellor who truly understands what you’re going through can often provide the breakthrough you’re looking for. Armed with a safe space to work through your struggles, you can gain the insight and tools you need to manage difficulties and move forward with greater confidence.

I am a Trauma and Relationship Specialist and a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP).
Life can be hard at times, and when we meet the messy moments it can feel isolating, overwhelming, and hopeless. We are human, after all. It makes sense that we may find ourselves stuck at times - stuck in our feelings, thoughts, and behaviours and it can be tough to shift things in the right direction, especially if we are doing it on our own. With honesty and compassion, therapy is a place to explore what you're navigating and create sustainable change that supports your healing and growth. I support women who are wanting to shift out of survival mode so they can feel grounded, confident, and free.

I work in a trauma-informed and strengths-based manner, and believe significant change can come about within the holding space of a safe therapeutic relationship.
I am passionate about helping you to find freedom, authenticity and connection, through resolving patterns that may be limiting you. The therapeutic process can help you to make sense of, adapt to, and heal from difficult life experiences. I have great respect for the courage involved in seeking support and aim to provide a non-judgemental space where you can safely explore what's on your mind.

Having been raised in a emotion-denying household, then spent six years in the Military and then the trauma of divorce, I use my personal experience to assist couples to strengthen their relationship bond by expressing what is really going on beneath the surface of conflict or loss of closeness that they might experience.
Relationship issues effect most aspects of your life. If we feel safe and secure in our home with our partner, then we can face all other adversity so much easier. I specialize in assisting that close connective bond with Attachment Focused processes using Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy as well as many other modalities which are useful towards the same goal. I believe couple work needs much more time than the standard 50-60 minutes so ask that you be prepared to stay in session between 90 to 120 minutes.

Therapy with me is grounded in evidence-based, trauma-informed practice.
In our first session, we talk about what’s brought you here — whether it’s the pain of repeated relationship disappointments, uncertainty in a long-term partnership, or feeling weighed down by anxiety, low mood, disordered eating, or emotional distress. You may be navigating life feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or like things should feel better than they do — and you’re looking to change this.

You might be navigating a life transition, relationship challenge, deep grief, or feeling lost in patterns of anxiety, burnout, dissociation or overwhelm. Perhaps your body is holding what words cannot express—chronic pain, tension, or a sense of disconnect. You long for relief, clarity, and a deeper connection to yourself. My work is for those who seek more than just talk therapy—who want to feel change in their body, not just understand it in their mind. Together, we create space for healing, where old patterns can unravel, and a sense of possibility, agency, and ease can emerge.

Trauma and PTSD Counsellors

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
