Maybe you've spent years holding things together, wondering why it still feels so hard. Or something has quietly shaped how you move through relationships and your own body, and you're ready to explore it with support. I work across the lifespan with children, adults, and couples navigating complex trauma, neurodivergence, attachment wounds, and burnout. I offer trauma-informed, relational therapy in support of your nervous system. I draw upon Flash technique and Havening alongside longer-term trauma-therapy. I am available face-to-face at Capalaba, QLD and via telehealth across Australia.

Hi, I’m Donald. A lot of the people who find their way to me aren’t “falling apart” in obvious ways - they’re functioning, capable, often the ones others rely on - but there’s a persistent sense that something isn’t right. Maybe you can’t find ease in yourself, you keep repeating the same relationship patterns, or you’re tired of managing life while feeling disconnected from it. My work is relational, attachment-informed, and formulation-driven.

Since 2005, I have worked as a psychotherapist and social worker in a range of human service and community work settings. My clinical practice has been shaped by people's experience of chronic illness, natural disasters, trauma, disability, mental ill-health, ageing, grief and loss. I consider the therapeutic space to be a safe and enriched environment. I strive to bring a gentle curiosity to these explorations, and to acknowledge the importance of working at your pace. Central to my work is a belief in our capacity for insight, creativity, and growth – particularly in response to the difficulties we face.

If you're an adult navigating grief, trauma, burnout, spiritual crisis, or a disconnection you can't quite name, I can help. You may have already sought support — and found conventional spaces left you feeling unheard, reduced to a diagnosis, or handed a prescription with no real direction. Or perhaps a spiritual or alternative space bypassed your pain with idealism that lacked therapeutic grounding. Wherever you've come from, I can meet you where you are. What brings people here varies. What they share is a genuine willingness to look honestly at their inner world and do something meaningful about it.

I believe that every person has great worth and value; each one is born for purpose; within every person is a rich deposit of skills. However, ‘life happens’; situations arise that cloud one’s vision causing one to feel ‘just not worth it’. One doubts oneself and gets bogged down. If that sounds like you, connect with me today and let’s journey together. You are worth it! Samway Consulting (formerly Samway Counselling Services) is an online counselling service that aims to create a safe, nonjudgmental space for you to talk, unpack and unload.

Hello, I’m Anthony, and I’m passionate about supporting people who are ready to make positive changes in their lives. Life can be overwhelming at times, and many individuals face challenges such as anxiety, depression, and relying on old coping mechanisms that no longer serve them. My approach is to walk alongside you as we explore what aligns with your values and goals, helping you move towards growth, developing new stories or beliefs, while letting go of patterns that may no longer be helpful. I bring a compassionate, empathetic, trauma informed approach, along with lived experience, to our work together.

Many of the people I work with appear capable and functional on the outside, yet privately feel stuck, lost, or unsure of who they are becoming. You may find yourself repeating the same patterns in relationships, being the rescuer, carrying the responsibility for everyone else, or feeling frustrated that your own needs remain unclear and unmet. You may struggle with ADHD symptoms, confusing feelings, self-doubt, or a quiet sense that life is not unfolding in the way you hoped. I work primarily with people navigating relationship strain, identity conflict, cultural or faith expectations, and questions of meaning and direction.

Many of the men we work with aren’t in crisis. They’re capable, driven and doing well on paper. But something isn’t working. You might be shutting down in conflict, carrying quiet anger, feeling disconnected from your partner, or unsure who you are outside of work and responsibility. You want to show up better in your relationships, feel more steady in yourself, and stop repeating patterns you know aren’t working. You may have tried pushing through on your own. Now you’re ready for structured support that actually translates into real conversations, real decisions and real change.

You may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from yourself or others. Perhaps you're navigating grief, anxiety, identity concerns, or the pressure to keep everything together while struggling inside. You want clarity, relief, and to feel more like yourself again. You’re seeking space to talk openly, be heard without judgement, and explore what matters to you with someone who will walk alongside you, not direct you. You're not broken you just need a place to be understood.

I work with adults who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, health-related challenges, relationship difficulties or uncertainty, or who have questions relating to intimacy and sexual health. Many people I see are wanting to make sense of what has been happening and find a way of moving forward that feels right for them.

If you’ve found yourself here, chances are something important isn’t feeling right—maybe in your relationship, your sense of self, or both. Whether you’re in a new relationship or have been together for decades, it’s common to feel stuck, disconnected, or unsure of how to move forward. And it’s not always easy to open up to friends, family, or even your partner. I offer a warm, collaborative space where you can feel heard, understood, and supported as we work together to create meaningful, lasting change—emotionally, mentally, and in the way you connect with others. Therapy isn’t about fixing you—it’s about supporting you.

Men's Issues Therapists
Is therapy for men different than it is for women?
Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.

How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can men prepare for therapy?
Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.

What should men know about the process of therapy?
One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
