If you are struggling with past events, or current emotions, thoughts or nightmares, I can help. If you’ve never seen a psychologist and are worried about the process, try a session with me. If you haven’t yet found the psychologist you ‘click’ with, the one that understands you, I might be the one who understands.

I work with individuals and professionals who wish to improve their emotional resilience. Life events can create turmoil to a person's inner peace. My ideal client has an intent to improve their lived experience, and is prepared to face their resistance to chance.

I enjoy working with individuals who want to understand how unconscious processes and patterns are manifested in their present-day behaviour. I work with individuals who have past trauma that they would like to heal from; individuals who wish to be able to form nourishing and reciprocal relationships; individuals wanting to understand and accept all parts of themselves; and individuals who want to understand and process their childhood experiences to be able to approach parenting their own children differently.

The right therapy is gold. I work with somatic modalities to help people's bodymind deeply heal from stress, anxiety, PTSD, early life relational trauma and more. Trauma is more common than we think and individualised therapy can really make a difference.

Feeling tired, anxious or unsure about things can be overwhelming as the head talk gets louder, and we go into problem-solving-thought mode and we can become unclear about what the problem is. This cycle doesn't solve anything or give us clarity, it keeps nurturing the niggles and the feelings become the worries! So essentially, we start worrying about worrying and can get overwhelmed. This kind of free floating or anticipatory anxiety, doesn’t help to give us clarity or form a plan or move us forward. Instead, it takes up precious air-time and removes us from our connections, our relationships, our plans and our motivations.

I can help with a variety of issues, including mood disorders, female autism presentation, and relationship issues.
Your life, and your feelings matter. I can give you a safe, confidential space to be heard, accepted, and understood. You get to tell your story and talk about your struggles at your own pace, and together we can work towards greater clarity and resolutions. In our sessions I draw partly on my own lived experience. I have insight into trauma, workplace stress, high-functioning autism and supporting a family member with dementia. I also have 25 years experience working with children and their families. These assets give me empathy and a deep understanding of a wide range of others' personal experiences.

I have a special interest in working with our first responders: QAS, QPS, QCS, SES and QFES and with those experiencing workplace issues (WorkCover). Work is such a large part of our life, and when work is difficult, it is hard not to let it leak into our private lives. It is wonderful to start shifting some of the symptoms and bring back a sense of joy. Together, my clients and I work on what a happier life would look like, and what is needed to get there. We usually do this by looking at strengths and values, and by exploring underlying beliefs that may hold you back. It is an in-depth look at what makes you who you are.

Female Counsellors
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
