You've done the work. Read the books, tried the approaches, maybe even done therapy before. And yet something keeps running: A pattern you can name but can't shift. That gap between knowing and changing is exactly what I work with. I see adults who are ready to move forward, not just understand their past. If you want real change, not endless processing, you're in the right place.

Together, we’ll identify what’s holding you back and work toward meaningful change.

SJ's approach is influenced by psychodynamic psychotherapy. From this framework, treatment is centred on illuminating the unconscious narratives that we all carry within ourselves, impressed upon us by our early experiences. We may find ourselves feeling stuck, indifferent, or overwhelmed, despite immense efforts to change, unaware of the repeating patterns within ourselves, and in our interactions with others. Through the exploration of the past and paying close attention to what arises in the present moment-to-moment interactions, we can come to embrace the entirety of our experience and transformation begins anew.

I work with people who feel like they’re carrying too much. Sometimes it shows up as anxiety, exhaustion, shame, or the sense that they’re caught in patterns they can’t quite see but can’t seem to change. For others, it’s tied to experiences of trauma, OCD, eating disorders, or the ongoing effort of living in a body or world that hasn’t always felt safe. Many are also navigating questions of identity, neurodivergence, or health alongside their mental health. What they’re looking for is clarity, steady support, and practical ways to start untangling the patterns that leave them feeling stuck.

I provide a relaxed space of acceptance and non-judgment, and strive to offer trauma-informed, anti-oppressive and inclusive therapy, with a strong awareness of the systems of power and oppression that shape and impact our lives. I believe therapy is not one-size-fits-all, and see my primary role as working to truly understand your individual experience. I am guided by each individual’s goals and needs, and use an integrated experiential approach to therapy.

You're good at holding it together on the outside, but privately running on empty. You say yes when you mean no. You shrink yourself to keep the peace. You're exhausted by how much space other people's feelings take up in your head. You might feel disconnected from who you actually are, stuck in patterns you can't quite name, or like something's off but you can't fully explain it. You're not in crisis. You're just tired of carrying so much. You want to slow down, understand what's been getting in the way, and start making choices that actually feel like yours.

I work with people who are seeking a deeper understanding of themselves. Together we explore "what hurts", what you desire and long for and how you relate to yourself and the world. Psychodynamic therapy respects the complexity of humans and looks to provide not only relief from symptoms, but the opportunity for a richer life.

I work with people who appreciate inner-work and creative understanding and want to integrate a deeper level of soul and meaning into their lives. Many people I see have reached a point of seeing how old conditioning and patterns have been limiting their inner and outer lives and are wanting to make significant changes. Many people are at a crossroads, undergoing real loss, grief, or disappointment, and needing to find new meaning and direction.

My ideal client is an adult who is capable, insightful, and quietly overwhelmed. They may be neurodivergent (ADHD, autistic, or both) and/or have a history of complex trauma. Daily life feels harder than it should — motivation, organisation, emotional regulation and follow-through are ongoing challenges. They are tired of feeling stuck, misunderstood, or self-critical. They want practical, compassionate support that helps them understand their patterns, work with their nervous system, and build a life that feels more manageable, meaningful and aligned with their values.

You see yourself repeating the same patterns. You're ready to understand the meaning these hold in your life, to finally let old patterns go and allow for new possibilities to arise. You want a space where you can connect deeply with yourself, understand who you truly are, and move towards greater alignment with your authentic self.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
