Additionally, I have extensive experience in working with those who have suffered significant trauma such as sexual assault, domestic violence and addiction.
I am a Gestalt psychotherapist and offer a warm and compassionate approach to therapy, working holistically and relationally with my clients and their life experiences. I provide a relaxed space of acceptance and non-judgment, and strive to offer trauma-informed, anti-oppressive and inclusive therapy, with a strong awareness of the systems of power and oppression that shape and impact our lives. I believe therapy is not one-size-fits-all, and see my primary role as working to truly understand your individual experience. I am guided by each individual’s goals and needs, and use an integrated experiential approach to therapy.

I work with people who feel like they’re carrying too much. Sometimes it shows up as anxiety, exhaustion, shame, or the sense that they’re caught in patterns they can’t quite see but can’t seem to change. For others, it’s tied to experiences of trauma, OCD, eating disorders, or the ongoing effort of living in a body or world that hasn’t always felt safe. Many are also navigating questions of identity, neurodivergence, or health alongside their mental health. What they’re looking for is clarity, steady support, and practical ways to start untangling the patterns that leave them feeling stuck.

Do you feel somewhat stuck? Perhaps overwhelm, physical pain or yearning for something different? Maybe you'd simply like to do better? Why not consider a coupling of counselling, clinical hypnotherapy and strategic psychotherapy? Unaware, you may be running outdated patterns which are at odds with the YOU of today, making it difficult to navigate and effect change. I use permissive Ericksonian hypnotherapy (particularly the Gordian Pillars) to uncover well-worn patterns of stuckness, then gently infuse the subconscious with alternate options. Safe, effective, gentle and life-changing.

I work with clients who have a lived experience of domestic and family violence (survivors) and also clients who have been issued with a DVO (perpetrators).
Being able to talk about what's going on in your life in a safe and non-judgemental space can be a powerful catalyst for change. Counselling is based on your needs with interventions grounded in a holistic understanding of you and your life. It aims to facilitate improved self-knowledge and understanding of issues you may be experiencing, which enhances steps towards improved mental health and emotional well being. If agreed upon I am able to work with you in helping to understand the association between past experiences and current behaviour. Early influences can shape us and our ability to exert control over present functioning.

I believe all people have an innate capacity for wisdom and, with this, a natural capacity for healing. I aim to empower people by supporting their connection to this inner wisdom while gently addressing the barriers that may limit access to it and prevent them from living a full and enriching life. Many people experience difficulties related to unresolved issues from the past, stressful relationship dynamics, work-related challenges, self-defeating behavioural patterns, and self-critical ways of thinking. Psychological counselling can help to develop insight, build on your strengths, and support meaningful and lasting change.

Domestic Abuse Therapists
What are the most effective ways to recover from domestic abuse?
Leaving an abusive relationship requires tremendous courage, so survivors in treatment should recognise that they have already completed the most important step. Still, the trauma of physical or emotional abuse can be difficult to process and overcome. Therapy can help survivors process trauma, grief, and difficult emotions, treat relevant mental health symptoms, and create a new framework for boundaries and relationships in the future. For some, support groups can also be an invaluable outlet for healing.

When should an individual seek help for domestic abuse?
Victims of intimate partner violence should seek help immediately. It can take substantial time, planning, energy, and courage to leave an abusive relationship, but starting the process—by seeking therapy, calling the domestic violence hotline, or simply confiding in a loved one—will help them get there. Those who have left abusive relationships but haven’t sought treatment can also greatly benefit from therapy to process and heal from the experience.

What are the consequences of staying in an abusive relationship?
Remaining in an abusive relationship has serious repercussions. In addition to the ongoing threat of physical danger and emotional abuse, research shows that intimate partner violence is associated with a range of mental health disorders including depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and substance abuse. Therefore it’s important for individuals in an abusive relationship to seek help as soon as possible.

How can you get domestic abuse treatment for someone else?
It can be very complicated to identify and leave an abusive relationship; barriers include the threat of violence, financial instability, and family pressures. Those concerned about a loved one in an abusive relationship should talk to them about the situation, provide them with resources such as the domestic violence hotline, and introduce the idea of seeing a therapist due to their concern for the person’s safety and well-being.
