I became a counsellor to be with people and help them feel less alone. All experiences are welcome - whatever your background, identity, or journey, you have a place here. Magic comes from feeling safe and heard - with me, you don't have to brace for judgment, hide who you are, or do anything “correctly”. Your story is valued and you aren’t a problem to be solved. The power of therapy is not a formula to me, nor is it effective because of a framework. It works because you show up. You deserve compassion as you navigate your life and find what feels authentic to you.

Sage is a General Psychologist & Clinical Registrar who believes healing happens in connection. She works with the invisible threads that hold us together, attachment, belonging, safety, and knows how attachment disruptions and unprocessed trauma often show up as emotional pain. If you're here because something feels off in your relationships, your body, or your sense of safety, or because old patterns keep showing up no matter how hard you try: this is the right place.

I support individuals who have come to a point in their life where things are “just not right”, whether it is a general feeling of dissatisfaction, loss of meaning, or a specific situation causing them significant distress (e.g. issues in relationships, health, workplace,…). Opening a safe space to share what is going on is a first step towards feeling better and moving forward. Sometimes, exploring past events and emotions brings an understanding that can appease and help to let go. When you are ready, I work with you to better understand your context, resources and obstacles, and help you build a more grounded and meaningful life.

Katie is trained in a range of therapeutic modalities including CBT, DBT, and ACT, and is currently undertaking further training in Relational and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy.
My ideal client is someone who feels overwhelmed by life's demands yet yearns for a sense of clarity, peace, and purpose. They might be experiencing anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship issues or navigating a major life transition that feels daunting. They are seeking not only to alleviate immediate distress but to foster lasting personal growth. They want more than symptom relief—they’re eager to understand the “why” behind their feelings, patterns, and reactions. They desire tools and strategies to manage their emotions, communicate effectively, and ultimately build a life that aligns with their true values.

My approach centres on psychodynamic therapy principles, and this takes an open, expressive and 'non-directive' stance.
I find it incredibly gratifying and fascinating to uncover and understand the patterns in our lives.. how we think about ourselves, about others, how we expect to be treated, the ways in which we criticise and admonish ourselves. There can be so much happening that sits just outside of our awareness. What I try to offer in therapy is the space to uncover and explore these patterns, as a means of understanding what might be making us feel down, or anxious, or guilty.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.
How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.
Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.
What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
