I am a clinical psychologist and I have a strong interest in working with individuals to cultivate and maintain psychological resilience. I welcome clients who appreciate explorative work and insight-oriented therapy to assist their personal growth and enhance wellbeing. Many people want things to be different in their lives, and very often they do not realize they have been experiencing stress, anxiety or depression for a very long time. They may have thought about, or feel ambivalent, to reach out. With the appropriate support, understanding and compassion, things can change and they can be better equipped to move life forward.

I believe therapy is not one-size-fits-all, and see my primary role as working to truly understand your individual experience. I am guided by each individual’s goals and needs, and use an integrated experiential approach to therapy.

I enjoy helping clients who are experiencing life challenges and are stressed. It is rewarding to journey with clients as they take the initial step acknowledging they need help then be willing to look deeply within themselves as they learn ways to cope. My clients want to lead more satisfying and healthy lives, enjoy happier and more harmonious relationships (at home or work), and fulfil their potential. I help my clients achieve greater inner calm, resilience, health and wellbeing, and personal goals, so they enjoy their life, love and appreciate who they are, get off autopilot default mode, and be a positive force in the world.

You might notice that your body and mind rarely feel truly at ease, even when nothing is obviously wrong. Over time, this can show up as ongoing anxiety, tension, exhaustion or a sense of being “on edge,” shaped by past experiences that haven’t fully settled. You’re functioning, coping, and getting through but it feels hard to relax, feel safe or feel fully yourself. You want support that helps you understand what’s happening inside you, without feeling pushed or rushed. These experiences can subtly shape how you see yourself, relate to others and move through life- often without you realising how much they’re still influencing you.

With over 20 years’ experience, I work with adults navigating anxiety, the aftermath of difficult or toxic relationships, trauma, emotional burnout, and stress-related challenges — including workplace and WorkCover presentations. Many people come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck in patterns they don’t fully understand, or exhausted from holding everything together. Often, our responses make sense in the context of what we’ve experienced. Together, we explore the “why” beneath those patterns and begin making meaningful behavioural and cognitive changes that support healthier outcomes.

I offer individual psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and adults in-person at my Brisbane CBD office and by telehealth (for older adolescents and adults).
I practise psychodynamic psychotherapy. While outcomes from psychotherapy are different for each person, beyond relief from psychological distress, you may find yourself more accepting or capable of navigating the painful experiences that are typical of life, discover greater personal freedom, or no longer feel afraid to take up space in your relationships.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
