You're Asian Australian, high-functioning, and carrying the silent weight of family pressure, perfectionism, and cultural beauty standards. You’ve learned that achievement is the bare minimum and emotional suppression is the only way to belong. Navigating intergenerational trauma or feeling "not Asian enough" is exhausting. ' You don't need to translate your life to get help. Previous therapy felt frustrating when explaining cultural context took up half the session. I understand why you can't just "go no contact," why career feels like survival, and why shame runs deeper than Western textbooks realize.

You might be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected—like something isn’t quite right, even if you can’t fully explain why. Or perhaps you’ve been carrying a lot for a long time and are ready for a different way forward. I work with adults experiencing trauma, anxiety, relationship difficulties, depression, burnout, and life transitions, as well as those noticing recurring patterns, self-criticism, or a deeper sense of disconnection. Therapy becomes a space to slow down, make sense of what’s happening beneath the surface, and begin moving forward with more clarity and stability.

Do you feel stuck in exhausting cycles of guilt, shame or self-doubt, even while appearing to function well on the outside? Difficult home environments, trauma, or neurodivergence may have shaped how you see yourself, leaving you silently battling intense thoughts and emotions. Perhaps you’ve been through painful experiences that others (or yourself) might not see as trauma yet they’ve had a deep impact. Trauma isn’t always one big event; it can come from ongoing experiences like emotional neglect, criticism, bullying, or growing up around conflict. My passion is working with complex trauma often accompanied with neurodivergence.

Informed by Schema Therapy and attachment theory, I work with people who may be experiencing anxiety or OCD (including rumination and doubt cycles), relationship difficulties, identity concerns, low self-worth, emotional flatness or depletion, or a sense of feeling stuck in patterns that are hard to shift. Whether you're navigating specific challenges or longer-standing childhood wounds, we work together to understand what these patterns have been trying to do for you and what may now be getting in the way, creating space for greater self-understanding, self-compassion, and more flexible ways of relating.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) Therapists
Do I need exposure and response prevention therapy?
Many clients decide to seek help for obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviours when these symptoms are distressing enough to disrupt everyday life. Any thoughts or behaviours that cause friction in close relationships are also worth addressing. In addition, the client’s symptoms don’t have to be severe for them to benefit from ERP therapy.

Is exposure and response prevention therapy part of cognitive behavioural therapy?
Exposure and response prevention is one specific type of CBT that focuses on behavioural change in response to triggering stimuli. It is related to exposure therapy but adds an additional component of preventing compulsive and harmful responses.

How long does exposure and response prevention therapy take?
While every patient is different, exposure and response prevention therapy typically lasts around 12 sessions, although some treatments can take longer. A therapist will determine if the treatment is complete based on how the client faces their fears, particularly the strongest ones. When a client feels less anxiety about stimuli that once evoked terror or distress, that is generally an indication that they are nearing the end of ERP therapy.

What are the limitations of exposure and response prevention therapy?
The most common pitfalls of exposure and response prevention therapy include not addressing a client’s core fears, allowing the client to avoid their most distressing stimuli, and using imaginary exposure when the client requires real-life exposure (and vice versa). ERP therapy is most effective when the client commits to the full course of treatment; if the client stops early or doesn’t practice what they have learned outside of therapy sessions, they are less likely to have successful outcomes.
